I went in for a induction due to my waters leaking from 32 weeks I was put on the drip from the get go, I didn’t have the epidural straight away as I didn’t want it but after the 12 hours I wasn’t dilating past 3cm and the drip needed to be turned up to it’s max volume by this point it was getting unbearable I ended up having the epidural if I was to go through it all over again I probably would have opted for it sooner rather than trying to solider through it it’s not nice at all but everyone is different no matter what you choose you have got this mama ❤️

I am being induced tomorrow and I will be opting in for an epidural if i need the drip. Its supposed to be the most effective pain relief, speak to the midwives to see what they suggest. Hope it all goes well xx

I was completely against having the epidural when I had to be induced with my first but it ended up getting too much for me and In the end I gave in and honestly didn’t regret a thing! I personally didn’t feel a thing and had no issues with it. I would 100% get one again 🤣 Everyone’s different and it’s a decision only you can make for yourself but either way you’ve got this mama 🫶🏽

It's worth it. I asked for it as soon as I started having strong painful contractions.
Wasn't my first option but I just couldn't cope with the pain.
Went in labor 00:05 this morning, no induction

I had extremely painful contractions for over 48 hours before being considered in ‘active labour’. I was not able to eat or drink anything without vomiting and had no sleep during that time. I said I didn’t want an epidural until I reached my breaking point and asked for one right away. 🤣
My advice is if you can’t handle the pain opt for an epidural. It was like having a spa, if you think you can manage then refuse one but know the longer you leave it the less likely you will be able to have one.

Literally do it. I had the drip and
It’s the most painful form of artificial labour - my baby was spine to spine too! So just do it

my first was also back to back. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone.

Obviously it is completely your choice but my brother is an anaesthetist in obstetrics and he said he always advices women have an epidural if they need the drip just because it can make contractions significantly more intense/painful - it’s just like making your body go from 0 to 60 with them I guess so more pain relief can help

was horrific tbh! Anyone who has this plus an induction who doesn’t have an epidural I absolutely take my hat off too!

I had the drip, and no epidural, managed fine just with gas and air. You can always ask for it later if you change your mind x

not necessarily - you can’t have it if you’re too far into Labour and it might not be possible to secure an anaesthetist. That’s why you’re always told to get one sooner rather than later!
