Financially drained

Have any of you continued IVF knowing how financially drained you were? Did you worry either about being pregnant and the cost of bringing up a baby or the cost of having to do another transfer/cycle if not successful? I'm feeling really irresponsible trying to conceive given our financial position but I also, age wise, don't have a couple of years to recover from my broken bank balance. Am I alone?

I say do it. We aren't in the best financial situation either thanks to infertility treatments but we also didn't have a few years due to my premature ovarian failure. My friend moved back into her parents house with her husband to continue with treatment. You will recover. A baby won't remember the money you spent on them.

It’s definitely a huge strain on the process abs unfortunately puts more pressure on. But for us we knew there was nothing else we wanted more so than this, especially as more time goes on. Obviously you have to look at own circumstances but we both knew that for us this was worth the struggle (but also hugely saddening when you spend so much and would have nothing to show for it) all the best xx

I think about this all the time. We’ll only get 1 round on NHS so it’s likely we’ll be paying for additional rounds privately, in addition to all the money we’ve spent on vitamins and ovulation tests etc

My thinking is that I’m about to turn 37 and will likely only have a couple of years left before time runs out. It would be nice to have the time to save up but unfortunately infertility doesn’t give you a warning ahead of time, you only find out once you’ve started trying and by then there isn’t much time to save.

I’d rather do everything possible now to give us a chance even if it means going without all the other things, rather than look back in years time regretting not trying harder.

Everything else I can live without but don’t think I could be happy without my own family, this is the only thing that really matters to me.

I grew up without luxuries and turned out fine-ish 😅 All a baby needs is love x

P.s I’ve also been looking at programs like https://gaiafamily.com and https://www.accessfertility.com to help with the cost

I think this is a very hard but honest conversation you need to have with your partner and no one else. Only you two completely understand your current financial situation but I agree with you also need to take into consideration the type of life you want to be able to provide for your future baby. A baby will require 18+ years of financial support. Infertility is a very long and hard road, but the financial responsibility doesn’t end at the sign of a positive pregnancy test.

As I contemplate a 3rd IVF cycle (our insurance provides no coverage so it’s all out of pocket for us and about $20K per cycle), this stress is constantly on my mind. We are using up all our savings and what was initially intended to go towards a down payment on a house. It’s so hard to decide where to draw the line. It’s such a personal and emotional decision. We’ve decided 3 attempts is our max and after that, we need to explore and consider other options.

Thank you everyone for your opinions and experiences. It's a tough one. I agree with , about not sacrificing our mental health or well-being of the child and also agree with , about being financially hurt now but it being worth it in the end if we can see ourselves recovering. it's constantly on my mind, too. Deciding when enough is enough is very hard, especially when you want a baby so much. I think we've also decided 3 attempts to be our max. That's the difficult part - feels like a huge financial loss when it doesn't work. A bit like gambling.. how long do you stay in the game to win when it feels like you are losing?

Wishing all on the same journey every luck and congrats to those who have been successful

Anyone had a super early postive ?

Hi am i seeing things ? It's only 6 dpo. I had a chemical pregnancy start of February then a period then a positive ovulation strip a week ago Could this be the left over after the chemical ? It just seems so early. This is an early detection test. This came up within 2 minutes of dipping and it says to wait 3 minutes. I've taken two after that arnt as early detection but still what I think are faint positives ? All appeared withing the recommended time frames xxx

At 8DPO negative test result

At 8 DPO not even a faint line , a straight negative test . So does that means it’s a no pregnancy for me this month . Or there are future chances for hcg to rise

Negative at 8dpo

Has anyone had a negative at 8dpo and ended up pregnant after?

Sadly Desperate

I’ve been a step mom for over 6 years now and it seems like this year it has all went to hell. My relationship with my step kids, my feelings as a stepmom and everything else in general. I love my husband and he supports me every way he can I just don’t have anyone else in my situation that can help or understands what I’m going through. If anyone is willing to listen or just give their thoughts I would greatly appreciate it 💜
