Recently read about this that our little ones are an amannah for us (a trust) and we can break our salah to tend to them since Allah SWT allowed them to cry at this time, and they are helpless. This is a part of our worshipping of Allah SWT. Definitely look for a source sis as I've misplaced it.
Once calm we should return to our Salah
For me I just tend and put him in my arms and continue praying. When there's soujoud I put him between my arms at the prayer mat, he thinks I'm playing and it amuse him, so I'll be good to end my prayer with him looking at at me..
