Hi everyone! I've been pondering whether to bulk cook a bunch of meals and then freeze them so we have something quick, and ready to go for the first week or so when we get home with baby. Has anyone else done this before/ planning to do similar? Would welcome any thoughts or advice!

I’d LOVE to do this, especially as a family of 4 (nearly 5) but I just don’t have the freezer space 😭

We are! We’ve actually just had a chest freezer delivered today so that we have more storage space (our standing fridge freezer is full).
I had a nutritionist for powerlifting for a good few months and have loads of fantastic, super healthy and nutritious but easy to make food recipes that I’m hoping to make a start on once the freezer has been plugged in for a couple of days 🤞

I’ve started batch cooking and freezing meals! I forget to eat at the best of times and something easy to throw in a pan or in the oven will take a mental load off!

I'm doing exactly the same...now that I've got little strength 💪 I'm making the dishes bit by bit and storing them in the freezer....I made some today and I plan on making a couple over the week before delivery. My little one may come anytime now😊

What's everyone going to cook? I need some inspiration other than lasagna and stew.

I would like to do this too! Any meal ideas please? Not sure what is freezable

I’ve made a few different types of soups from Christmas veg leftovers; broccoli and Stilton, carrot and coriander, curried parsnip. I’ll be making a few curries and pasta sauces

I’m planning on doing it and have recently got a freezer for the garage.
Some of my go to:
Bolognese
Chilli con carne
Stew
Curry
Chicken fajitas
Soup
Pie fillings so I can just put pastry over the top or have on their own with a jacket tatie.
Beef, chicken and leek etc
Cottage/shepherds pie
Spanish Chicken
Chicken pesto pasta sauce (cook pasta when required)
To be honest most saucy type meals are freezable so just depends what you like 😃

We’ve done this. We recently got a freezer from my mum and I’ve been on a mission to fill it. So far, I’ve made;
Chilli
Bolognaise
Beef stew
Thai curry
Thai curry soup
Lamb curry
Roast potatoes (to whack in the airfryer when needed)
Various steamed veg (again to ping when needed)
Tomato sauces / cheese sauces for pasta (this has been a game changer in pregnancy)
We have a Costco membership, so things like frozen croissants, dim sum dumplings etc have also been stocked up. I’m stocking up on all my usual faves too, things we know we can grab for a quick meal.
I know people will bring us meals, family have started asking what we’d like, but we thought it would be helpful to have a stash for the days my partner doesn’t want to cook. It’s also been helpful for the days we’ve been too knackered/poorly to cook over Christmas

I am going to do a few. Mostly for the kids as I have a small freezer and then Atleast we know they are covered xx

I plan on bulk cooking meals, starting today with a chilli con carne. Also got an air fryer for Xmas as a friend said it was a god send with a new born

We plan on just buying ready meals for the freezer as we still aim to make dinners but now we have a toddler, if we don't feel like it we still need a backup plan unlike the first time when we could not eat or have a pot noodle

Just a quick note to remind everyone to label the pots! You think you’ll remember what they are or will be able to tell by the smell but I recently thought I was defrosting bolognese when it turned out to be Rogan Josh dohhhh. I only realised when a strong curry smell was coming from the microwave. Spaghetti and garlic bread don’t go particularly well with curry 😆

Thanks everyone, and thanks for the meal Inspirations too, any more please keep them coming! I had stews, chilli, and chicken/ sausage casserole on my ideas board, so loving seeing the other options!

I've also frozen breakfast muffins, Lactation cookies and plan to make some granola bars too, to snack on, it will be nice not to faff with breakfast 🙏

If you’re wanting some healthy, easy batch options… this may help. These are all pretty quick to make and super yummy.

I’ve been batch prepping meals that can just be dumped into the slow cooker or straight into a pan for the hob as we don’t have masses of freezer space for cooked meals to go in containers. Also written out instructions for my husband as he’s clueless when it comes to cooking and if left up to him, we’d live on a diet of beige oven food 😂
