12 Week Jabs - to Calpol or not to Calpol?

Hello all, what was your experience with these jabs? Did you use Calpol. Our nurse has said no to using it with these ones.
Thank you, apologies I know there have been lots of discussions about jabs. I wonder if we should make a jabs group? 🤣

We just had today the 12 week immunisation and the nurse said to give Calpol only if there is a need, if the baby starts to get temperature, if she is well not to give her anything

Avatar

We've been told not to give it as she shouldn't need it. Had our jabs today.

Nurse said not to use it, and we didn't. Was all fine. Reason was that is the Meningites that can cause temp, the 12 weeks jabs doesn't have it. Is the 16 weeks when will be needed again

Avatar

because is the meningite that can cause temp, the 12 weeks vaccine doesn't have the meningite. It will be at 16 weeks needed again...

I used calpol as my lo had a fever (37. 9/38.1) The nurse said to give the calpol if we needed it, she said he could have a temp still even if the meningitis one isn’t in it! Just go with your gut and see how your lo is

my Little boy still had a temperature though? I think it depends on the baby the same way not all babies get a temperature after their 8 week injections

Avatar

Totally agree with you. Not given by default like 8 and 16 weeks, but of course yes if LO needs it 🙂

We were told to bring Calpol with us, then give it immediately after injections and another 2 2.5ml doses spaced 4-6 hours apart. Our little one didn’t get a temperature, was ever so slightly higher than normal, she was just a bit more sleepy. We let her rest as much as possible and more cuddles and she’s been her normal self.

We've had tears and a slight fever this evening alongside two big poos. Think we have some effects from the jab. I have given Calpol for the fever. I wish I had just given the Calpol like previous vaccine but didn't as followed advice. Moral of the story. Go with your gut instinct.

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🥺

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🥲

6 month old autistism

My 6 month old makes no eye contact with me and doesn’t respond when I call him. Can this just be a phase or personality trait as apposed to autism

Baby with chronic congestion

Hi everyone! My 1 year has been a congested baby since birth almost. She breathes through her mouth so often that it wakes her up multiple times at night and she cries and screams and then struggles to go back to sleep. She wakes up every 1-3 hours and sometimes can’t go back to sleep for 2-3 hours!!! Piriton is the only thing that seems to help her sleep mostly through the night but I can’t keep giving her that!!
Does anyone have tips as to have I can do or give her? Has anyone experienced? I have no idea when I’ll get an ENT appointment and I have no idea what he can give a 13 mo :( we are desperate for sleep so any tips are welcome!! We have tried steam inhalation, saline drops, vapour rubs and everything off the counter basically!

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?
