4-5 days Post Op
Hi Mums 😊👋
My 2yr old had grommets put in last week Thursday and I am hoping it's healing well. She has no fever and she is well in herself however her left ear keeps leaking bloody discharge it's been 4-5 days post op. The GP took a swab but they aren't too concerned, I wondered if any mums here whose kids had grommets and what is the healing process like and if there is anything I should watch for. I have attached a photo based on what it's been looking like since the operation.

My son had grommets and actually got an infection within a couple of days of the opp. He had a high temp and was very unwell so needed antibiotics. If your son doesn’t have any symptoms then I wouldn’t worry. Discharge from the ear I believe is pretty normal after and part of the healing process. It may also be some build up now being able to escape. I wouldn’t worry, if it’s an infection he’s likely to get a fever pretty quick x
