Should I have the sweep if I am GBS positive please?

I read that you should refuse because it could push the GBS into the amniotic fluid and then it could be days before labor so it’s a risk xx

Thank you that’s helpful x

Also I’m sure my midwife advised against it during my first pregnancy - but I’ve read horror stories about GBS where women (in the UK) have had sweeps and then the baby’s caught it. So not sure if it’s actual guidance - but it deffo makes sense to avoid them!

I did not give consent for the sweep they did on me. I didn’t know what they were doing, they just said they were going to have a feel around, so next time I’ll be going in making it clear I don’t want a sweep. For me I also felt like it made labour go a little too fast and my body didn’t feel ready (water broke at midnight, got to hospital around 1am, antibiotics and sweep around 1.30/2am, had my baby at 5.40am) felt like it went from 0-1000 very quickly it ended up scarring me a little. -also might play a part that this was my first baby and didn’t know what to expect.
But there will be a lot of mums out there im sure wishing their labour was this quick, so I shouldn’t be complaining 😂
