So I gave birth 5 days ago . Of course I’m bleeding very lightly TMI but just woke up from my nap still light bleeding but notice a blood clot . Can that be normal? Or I should go to the hospital . Do want to because I’ll have to take my newborn with me but what was y’all experience ?

Clotting is normal. Especially with more movement. If it's larger than an egg, then you'll want to be seen

Agree with Kursten, the other thing to pay attention to is odor. BV and infection can be common in the first week or two PP, both will cause you to smell unpleasant down there.

thank you so much

thank you so much

No problem!

I was the same and it was day 5 I passed a massive blood clot (almost the size of a tennis ball), called triage and they said to monitor and nothing has happened since. I showed the midwife at my next appointment who agreed it was big but that I shouldn’t worry if it’s just the one.
Hope this helps, I’m now 15 days postpartum

I've been told by my midwife and NCT teacher that clotting is normal - if however it's bigger than the size of a golf ball then that could be a red flag so it's worth mentioning it to your midwife :) if it's less than that it's probably normal! (And even if it IS bigger it could still be nothing to worry about - just worth checking)

Had the same thing. Try to rest more, which I know is hard. If you have family around, take the help!

Clotting is very normal. I had some huge ones - like the size of a satsuma. Bit gross! In my case it wasn't anything to worry about as it wasn't really one big clot, but a few that'd joined together as I'd been lying down for a while. If in doubt, always get checked!

Small strick of clot yes normal. Like a string. Wide clot might be worth mentioning to the professionals. Take pics to show them. Xx

Clotting is normal and always usually happens sporadically up to 2-3 weeks pp
