Baby watching tv before bed

My little one usually self settles but recently getting harder since teething and found the aquarium videos on YouTube she absolutely loves and just falls asleep 🄰 I know babies shouldn’t watch to much tv but 10 mins before bed can’t be that bad can it?

You’re her mum, you make a decision what is suitable for your baby lovely x

My little girl has watched tv her whole life! More than ten mins a day. She’s two now and she can literally hold a conversation. I believe it’s from learning so much from TV. Like above said it’s up to you!! X

I use to get hung up on this too. But the way I see it, That is calming and and in moderation. Doesn’t seem like it could do any harm. Plus it’s less stimulating than some of the 6 month toys we just got for Christmas. 🤣

My LO is watches something similar live video of coral reef with relaxing music just before bed and puts straight to sleep don’t see the harm if it worksā˜ŗļølol x

No, your baby will be absolutely fine.
It’s not like you sit her in a bouncer all day 24/7 with only the TV for interaction.
My daughter is obsessed with Finding Nemo, and I mean OBSESSED!
She gets plenty of play time, singing, books, independent play, time out of the house, classes etc. a little time watching Nemo so I can shower or cook tea isn’t doing her any harm.
You’re doing fine and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise ā˜ŗļø

My baby watches a little Hey Bear in the morning when I get everything ready for the day then before for bed he watches Dorys Cam on Disney+ for a little. Have you tried Dorys Cam? I love it, it has white noise and the nemo characters!

The reason it’s not recommended for babies to watch tv especially before bed is because the blue light from the tv stimulates the receptor cells in the eyes that stop the production of melatonin. Melatonin is a hormone that regulates your circadian rhythm and helps you fall asleep, and it’s only produced in response to darkness. That’s the scientific background to the reason for no tv before bed. If your baby sleeps after watching that then I guess it’s ok. Not sure what the long term effects of it are though. You’d have to do more research about it.

my little boy loves this aquarium videos too! He can just calm down instantly when he sees it and funny enough, he is babbling " ish " when seeing fish ,lols yet no mumma or dada ..

My little one loves the aquarium videos. It soothes him. Before he was born I was adamant no tv. But if he’s upset and he’s been fed nappy changed had a nap. He will instantly stop if I put it on.

He gets super excited when the sharks on worm things come on now šŸ˜‚

My little boy watches Peppa Pig. He’s not interested in anything else on the TV apart from that. I let him watch it because it makes him happy and it allows me to do things around the house and a breather! She’s your baby lovely, you do whatever you want with her x

Do what works for you all! X

My baby does tummy time in front of the tv otherwise she cries. 5/ 10 mins isn’t hurting anyone x

I think I need to do this for myself 🄹
Projectors do produce blue light but it doesn’t hit the eye directly unless you are staring at the actual projector. Unless your room is pitch black with absolutely no light even from that egg thermostat, and the light blinking from the alarm etc. it is difficult to completely not have any blue light in the room at all.
Also, TV now isn’t like how it used to back in the day. This is a great idea in my opinion.

I have this too but won’t fit on her next to me so she gets to relax on my bed untill she falls asleep x

He has no respect for anything to do with me.

Husband and I decided to separate 3 days ago. I've been sleeping on the floor in the kids room, and we both have to stay in the same apartment for a while. He wont stop pushing little things and I am reaching my limit. Photos in comments

Toddlers

How often are your toddlers asking for food? My oldest who is 3 just finished a whole plate of food and not even 10 minutes later he’s requesting more food. I know he’s going through a growth spurt, but how do you respond to this.

Is this normal?

Is it just my husband that does this? He is able to work from home via his computer and in the mornings and evenings he is on there doing his job. When he is done for the day he tends to stay in the room and either play video games or watch something. He will occasionally come out and play with the girls for a few minutes and that’s it but when I really need him he says he is busy. My daughters are both 1 year old now and I am just wondering how much involvement should he have with them now?
Idk if this is the norm or not…..

Identity crisis?

Am I the only sahm who feels like they have lost their identity??? I don’t make money for my family, when I used to make great money. But I refuse to drop my under a year old baby off with strangers.
My husband works so much. But I have no control over bringing in money and I’m a control freak type of person! I feel l like I’m losing my grip because we are kind of broke, but day care would only eat up my income anyways! So what’s the point. I’m a workaholic and now I’m just a twitching bum.
I wish I could work from home but so far that’s a fake dream. I’m almost 9 months pp, and I just need to know these awful mood swings and depression will end soon! Send wine!

Saying NO to buying toys etc

5 year old is getting really envious of others. He is obsessed with items that other kids have at school. I am pestered daily to buy these things in a different style when we already have 3 others. I have seen parents just buying stuff their kid likes which I don't necessarily agree with even when i can afford it. How do you deal with it?
