Hard

I have a 2 year old little boy, looks likely he is autistic. I am struggling some days to come to terms with it tbh. I find it really overwhelming speaking to professionals hence why I feel flat today after speaking to a lovely lady about his sleep, and even though nothing bad happened I feel really upset and worried about the future. She suggested to join a local group on Facebook for mother's with children that are autistic but atm I find that too much aswell.
I love my son so much and we had a lovely hour in the park earlier and he was running and laughing and smiling, he is gorgeous but I am terrified for what our future holds and some days it's too much worry

Please feel free to message me if you want to talk. I have been stressing so much to the point I am making myself feel so sick.I had to pull myself together to take care of my little one. The doctors have been stressing me out.

I struggle on a daily basis. Stress, anxiety, guilt. How am I going to cope? I’m in a few Facebook groups. Where do you live? I’m in the UK

I feel this. It felt the same way when my son was diagnosed. I cried while the developmental psychologist was going through the evaluation results. It was hard to think about anything except how my son will struggle more than average kids and feeling like I have already failed him in some way.
With time and a lot of supports it gets easier to come to terms with. The smallest, most mundane things for an average child will fill you with overwhelming joy when your son does them. You son's progression will amaze you. Sure, there will hard days but the hopes of better days keeps you going.
Find the supports (therapies, friends, groups, government/state assistance, etc.) you and your son need and it will help so much. You are already doing great by seeking out help for him and reaching out here for yourself!

I feel the same way I feel these doctors are pressuring me to say what they want to hear. Reading this post is exactly how I feel made me cry I am still crying because this just sums up everything I really know exactly what you are going through.

Hey lovely, 🤚 you’re not alone. Please feel free to message me if you ever want to talk. My daughter was diagnosed autistic when she was 2, she is 4.5 years old now and I won’t lie it’s not easy but we get through it every single day! 😊 she makes small gains all the, and has her challenges but with the right therapies and support you’ll find that things do get better. It’s so hard to not worry about the future, it took me so long to come to terms with what she has but I’ve finally come to realise that this special little girl was given to me for a reason, and I was chosen to be her mumma and she thrives now because she can sense how strong I am for her. You’ve got this lovely! Please don’t hesitate to message me, and believe me when I say this “everything will be OK”
God bless you and your son xx 😘

My daughter is 2, I knew she was autistic from around 5 months old. I was in denial until she was about over a year old, I knew she was autistic but I was petrified and so upset thinking about the future and at the same time grieving what I thought I would be able to do with my daughter if that makes sense. Which is all fine we as parents go through all this emotions it’s very hard for us we are learning constantly. Over a year later I still cry, I took her soft play last week and she was stimming and adults was just staring at her she wanted to play with kids there ( she never interacts with anyone) but they didn’t want to because she plays differently, and I just think will she ever be accepted? Will parents educate their children that every child is different in many ways I feel as she’s getting older I’m getting way more protective of every single thing it’s scary, and worst thing is I don’t know anyone I can meet up with that understands what I’m going through and my daughter x

I'm autistic with two autistic daughters 😁 they just need the right support system for them and you in their corner when their needs aren't being met in school etc
My second (3)was assumed she wouldn't start speaking but she has started trying to say some words this year while stimming and is very happy about it despite everyone's belief she wouldn't try even her nursery have been astounded by how clever she is with her lack of communication (she likes letters and numbers and can organise in perfect order)
My oldest (8)is one of the top kids in her class and gained a pen license (some class thing they do) because of her frankly beautiful handwriting much prettier then mine and she liked going to after school clubs and is very social (even if she struggles with some cues she likes speaking to people)

Yeah there is some extra boundaries and anxieties to go with having an autistic child and there can be some challenges but they have the ability to succeed more then what most people assume they can ❤️

Hey there. If you want to, send me a message. My boy hasn't been diagnosed yet, but I am so terrified already. I live in Florida, and I am already looking for resources and schools to help him develop as the best version of himself. I also need friends who do not mention the many words their kids already know or ask how many words mine says (I think genuinely curious). I am so happy for them, and I am jealous in a way. It just makes me anxious to realize how behind my kid is.
