Definitely become a foster parent! I friend of mine had fostered short term for a while and was able to take home a little boy at just two days old. It’s heartbreaking to hear their stories but it’s so rewarding!

As an Adoptee, I would rather become a guardian of a child and then let them decide at 18 if they want to be adopted. Being adopted can put the Adoptee at risk of not being able to get their original birth and medical information later.
