Is anyone on medication for their anxiety?

I have become sooo anxious during this pregnancy and had several emotional breakdowns already! I'm thinking of contacting my doctor about potentially going onto something to help with my nerves and actually allow me to enjoy this pregnancy!!

Has anyone else had anything similar?

Sorry you feel like this. Def no expert on this but understand it’s usual in first trimester in particular to feel emotional, down and overwhelmed. But if it’s bad, I would def talk to your doctor. Can’t hurt, and might be something they can do.

Not yet this time round but it’s likely I will end up on them but with my first I ended up really bad in the second and third trimester to the point I was signed off work and I had to take maternity early. I was put on citalopram as it’s apparently one of the safer medications while pregnant. I’d like to say it did help a little bit but it never fully went away. I feel you though, I’m constantly anxious at the moment and it’s a horrible feeling

Thank you both! I've had anxiety previously (related to something else) but it's solely around my pregnancy this time around. I just constantly feel so on edge and instantly like something bad is going to happen and its starting to effect things I'm doing! I don't want to become reliant on medication but at the same time, if it will allow me to enjoy things a little more, I'm willing to give anything a go!!

Aw I know exactly how you feel. I’ve had a lot of stress and anxiety going on from other stuff atm and that’s causing me so much anxiety around my pregnancy, worrying what affect it will have on the baby etc and thinking someone bad will happen. I have an early scan on Saturday so I’m really hoping that will help out my mind at ease but I’m so anxious about that too
