Healing autism accounts on Instagram

I have come across a few Instagram accounts of mums who are selling books or other materials to heal autism.

Has anyone tried those for their children?

You can't heal autism

No way of healing autism. Autism is for life. You have books to help manage it and to help your child thrive with autism.

The only thing autistic kids have ever needed healing from is family members who tried to make them "normal" when they are who they are and beautifully made that way

couldn’t agree more with this! It’s accepting that your child is different and will reach their milestones in their own way and in their own time!

just one of the many things I had to try unlearn with therapy etc as I'm autistic and I was always trying to be normal like my family wanted 😅 it burns you out hard once you get to adult age

What exactly are they selling? I would buy books from other mothers to learn about their experience, I think it’s good to educate yourself on autism. But don’t fall for the ‘cure’ instagram accounts. Learning how to make life easier yes, I’m following a few accounts on instagram myself as this is all recently new to me. But it’s more around picky eating and nutrition, speech and how to help your child regulate.

well said! I’m a Christian also ❤️

As others have said, you can't heal autism. But there are many ways to manage neurodiverse challenges. We've seen huge gains with exercise and diet changes in terms of speech, general awareness, and socialisation as well as mood management. There is an amazing fb group called biomedical healing for kids and the parents there are super knowledgeable about supplements and diet. I hope you find what you are looking for - when you're feeling hopeless I know it can be tempting to try anything. Goodness knows we've thrown tons of money at all sorts of solutions to help my eldest. But a very consistent routine and diet has been the main things to make a different. Absolute solidarity to you - I know you're doing an amazing job!

You can't cure autism. You can just learn tools and tips for overcoming challenges associated with autism. Please be wary of these type of things. They prey on the vulnerable looking for answers.
