So I’m only 4 weeks but was reading that you can have 2 cups which is about 200 mg of caffeine per day.
I had just bought a Nespresso machine like 5 days before finding out I was pregnant and been drinking coffee daily. I stopped drinking any espresso shots when i found out and switched to only 2 cups the last few days and but I was trying to google what the caffeine content was in each nespresso coffee pod and its 170 mg each cup!!! That means I’ve been having like 340 mg per day!!!
One this just kinda sucks cause i feel like that means I’ll be tired if I can only have 1 cup a day buuuuut do you think anything bad will happen since I had multiple days of this already?

When I was pregnant I had 8 to 10 oz a day. Sometimes I would split it if I was working. Like 4 or 5 oz in the morning and 4 or 5 oz in the evening. My doctor said I was fine. My

1 cup of whatever. It’s so hard to know exactly how much caffeine is in the pods. Probably doesn’t work this way but I feel like I had to much. I try to skip a day or two

I just switched to decaf tea and coffee and occasionally have a caffeinated coffee if I’m out for a treat or a can of coke, some soft drinks also contribute to the caffeine intake as well as chocolate.

I am a coffee lover!! My husband swears it runs in my veins instead of blood 😅
Because you can only have essentially 1 10 oz cup of coffee a day I started doing iced coffee. Not the stuff you get from Starbucks or McDonald's. I brew a big pot of coffee, make coffee ice cubes and put the rest in the fridge. Next day I put 4 to 5 oz in a cup with 2 ice cubes and fill the rest with milk. (any milk will do even Oat or soy) Then later in the day when I would start to feel really tired I'd make another cup. I don't use coffee creamer but if you need it a small amount in 4 oz should be fine.

I have an espresso machine so I do 2 shots a day (it ends up being about 175mg of caffeine). Some days I do an extra black coffee though. It won’t hurt. But just don’t do it everyday. It’s mostly for blood pressure.
Any type of pod or pre-portioned coffees usually have more but nespresso does make a few decent decaf options too if you want that extra bit.

I way over did the limit of caffeine for both pregnancies and everything was totally fine. I would probably just stick to 1 cup for the first trimester at least or do a couple half caf or decaf coffees a day

I was told 1 cup

I’m currently drinking about 3 coffees a day (1 scoop in each) or 2
Coffees and a tea etc

I don’t know how it works for pods, but when I was pregnant I was surprised to learn there is typically more caffeine in a cup of filter coffee than in an espresso shot! You can have 2-3 shots of espresso but only 1 cup of filter coffee. That said, I’m sure your baby is fine, plenty of people do worse when they are pregnant 💜

I was concerned about this during my pregnancies and my OB's told me to continue drinking because the caffeine withdrawal headaches were so intense I was using Migraine medication. I was doing like 2-3 cups a day. I brew my own coffee so we just started adding in a scoop out 2 of decaf along with whatever else we were brewing. I still do it.

I’m currently 38weeks and the first trimester I was very careful doing everything, and I’ve kept to the food your not meant to be having either however I have been drinking tea and coffee daily and not limiting it as such some days I have more than two cups other days I have nothing just depends. And I’m 38weeks carrying a healthy baby

Ive never cut down caffeine.

If you read the part on coffee in “expecting better” it would make you feel better ! Don’t feel guilty girl ❤️

I am also a caffeine addict, but I noticed even trying the 1-2 cups a day was giving me major anxiety every morning so I just weaned myself off & I’ve been drinking decaffeinated teas past 3 months. Not the same, but I can’t wait to enjoy a fresh HOT cup of 100% caffeine caramel macchiato in 4 months 🥹

makes sense, when I was experiencing anxiety early 2023, first thing my therapist asked me to do was cut out the caffeine, as it mimics and heightens anxiety.

I drank loads of coffee before getting pregnant and thought it'd be hard to stick with keeping track each day. I also read some stuff that suggested caffeine can have adverse effects even in smaller amounts. I decided the easiest way for me was to go cold turkey. Shockingly it was only tough for 1.5 weeks then I barely missed it whatsoever which is crazy as before that I felt like I depended on it. I'm looking forward to the coffee life after giving birth but feel I've chosen the right path for me for now. I drink decaf tea when I fancy a hot drink. There's also caffeine in chocolate so I didn't want to have to start counting that too so I'm on decaf drinks and choc when I fancy it!

The 200 mg isn’t some hard and fast rule that if you break it something bad will happen. It’s a guideline to follow. I wouldn’t worry about anything you did before you knew you were pregnant. Baby doesn’t even fully get nutrients from you till the placenta starts forming. Until implantation there’s no connection between you and the embryo.

Yes 200ml of caffeine is correct.

Implantation is literally at the beginning when baby is conceived.

implantation doesn’t happen till 10 days after conception. A little before 4 weeks pregnant depending on your cycle.

My husband got me the half caff Mommee coffee. It tastes really good and it helped me taper my caffeine intake. There are other brands out there too.
Honestly, a lot of people don't realize they're pregnant that early and do way worse than drink Nespresso pods. I'm sure baby will be fine!

my only issue is I have severe fatigue issues when I’m not pregnant and always needed coffee with espresso to function so now I’m like how am i going to function at work everyday without it?! When i was trying to do some detoxes and other testing with a functional med doctor I tried to give it up and I did so successfully for about 3 weeks until i realized i was in a constant brain fog without it and needed it so now I’m worried about feeling so tired everyday without it that idk if i should continue to have it or just quit and deal with it for 9 months lol
