If she's black I would NOT recommend Cantu it has a lot of chemicals in it that damage our hair textures. Some good alternatives : Shea moisture, Mielle or carols daughter. Download the app Yuka it'll tell u the contents and how beneficial or healthy your food and beauty products are
cosmetologist here- stay away from cantu, shea moisture brands like that. it’s very harsh and can cause damage to the hair follicle and hair shaft itself. it strips everything from their hair and it’s almost impossible to replace that effectively. go for brands like curly kids or mielle. i use curly kids on all my clients 10 and under. then from 10+ i use either mielle or redkin depending on their hairs needs. what is her curl type? is her hair very dense or thin? is her hair itself thick or thin? do you know her porosity? all of those factors go into what products i use. curly kids is good for all my kid clients bc it’s very gentle and basic, but extremely hydrating and nourishing. i do switch around 10 years old though because i find kids that age tend to need more moisture added than they did before. you can always message me if you have any questions too
If you find that shampoo dries her hair or makes it brittle, switch to a cowash I recommend the one from the brand “As I Am”
also avoid coconut oil and coconut oil based products. coconut oil is actually very drying. and molecularly it’s just not right for your hair or scalp. the molecules are far to large to be absorbed. so they sit on top and draw in impurities. caused clogged pores and hair follicles. because coconut oil is comedogenic it easily caused clogged follicles and painful breakouts, even on the scalp. go for grapeseed oil instead. the molecules are much smaller and easily absorbed. plus it’s a much better carrier oil. i add rosemary and castor oil to the grapeseed to help promote growth, strength, and moisture retention. plus it’s noncomedogenic! so there’s no risk of it causing clogged follicles and pores.
Mielle oats and honey, As I am kids, Aunt Jackie’s kids!
@luu🤎 what brands for do you use for the oils?
@Anesha grapeseed oil i just buy at the grocery store. it’s with all the other oils, but i usually get mine at aldi. for castor oil i like “Sunny Isle Extra dark Jamaican Black Castor oil” and rosemary oil, you can either buy the mielle rosemary mint blend and just do that before adding the grapeseed :) or you can buy the hollywood beauty brand of rosemary oil at the beauty supply or walmart
@luu🤎 thank you Queen’ so the Mielle brand is safe for kids? My daughter has kinky curls, and hair is very dry and won’t grow.. so what shampoo and conditioner would you recommend ?
@Anesha sounds like she would do best with either the mielle rosemary mint line, which is great for growth, moisture, and strength. but mielle also have a pomegranate honey line made for type 4 hair. and type 4 is usually drier and needs more moisture added to it. routine wise i’d recommend wash 1x a week conditioner every 2-3 days then nightly i would dampen her hair, comb through, then add a leave in conditioner. don’t drench her hair in it. but enough to be well incorporated. as far as oils, i like to layer. i find it helps the oil adhere to the water and lock in moisture. so run some oil through her hair and massage it into her scalp. i love those little scalp scrubber massager things. and my clients loooove them too. also maybe do hot oil treatments to really open the hair follicles up. you can use the same grapeseed oil blend for that as well. that will help with growth, moisture, and strengthen her hair.
Shea moisture kids, cantu kids, socozy kids all great products I prefer cantu kids because they have a large variety of products
