Postpartum hair loss 😭

I'm 5 months pp and my hair is starting to fall out in chunks. What can I do? I already have very little, fine hair to begin with 😭

There’s not really anything you can do. It’s a normal part of the pp process that just has to run its course. Some people say some vitamins will help if you want to try that 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ve also heard people recommend to continue taking prenatals but I still take mine (I’m ebf) & I don’t see it helping

I’ve started taking nutrafol (the postpartum one). It takes a couple of months for any effect to be seen so I haven’t noticed a difference yet. I’ve got fine hair too and I feel like I’m losing all my hair. 😭

Yeah, me too. I chopped my hair into a Bob. Which was hard to do. It was getting all over me and my son, though it's been getting a little better.

Omg, i thought it was just me!! Does it get better later?

😭😭😭 🙋🏽‍♀️ fine hair club

@Diana I’ve been told by several hairstylists that it does go back to normal after a few months.

Postpartum gummies or pill helped save my hair and also helped me not be as drained

@Diana supposedly once babe is around a year old it should stop! can’t speak from experience tho cus this is my first baby and he’s barely coming up on 5 months

I read that it’s bc the growth cycle of your hair temporarily changed during pregnancy - stage 1 (growth) and stage 2 (no growth) last longer and stage 3 (falling out) happens less. PP when the stages go back to normal, stage 3 happens all at once, rather than all your hairs being in different stages, so you lose more hair. Supposedly it takes up to a year for the stages to get back to a normal cycle where stage 3 isn’t happening on so much of your hair at a time.

I don’t know what I’m doing to avoid this but I have not had hair loss (any more than pre-pregnancy levels). I take collagen daily so maybe that is helping? I also take postnatal vitamins.

@Hannah I think postnatal vitamins has helped me avoid this so far as well, I take the postnatal from New Chapter and it’s the bomb.

I noticed less shedding during the pregnancy but if this process takes a year I’m going to be left with no hair 🫠 I started loosing hair 2 months pp. I’m 5 months now and I feel that half of my hair is gone. I take postnatal vitamins and I Ebf ( not sure if that has anything to do with it).

@Allie I'm also taking my prenatal vitamins and ebf. Someone told me to take powdered collagen but I'll have to see if it's safe while breastfeeding

@Hannah maybe it's the collagen. Do you take powdered collagen or gummies?

The baby blues postpartum hair vitamins with biotin and collagen are the best. Minimizes the shedding period (can't fully stop hormonal hair fall) and gets more growing so much faster.

These are the ones or Amazon has them- highly recommend took them last postpartum too and filled in my edges/ hairline and helped my lashes grow. https://babyblues.care/products/postpartum-hair-loss-vitamins

I take this collagen daily with my morning coffee. And I’ve been taking the One A Day postnatal vitamin. Vital Proteins Chocolate Collagen Powder Supplement (Type I, III) for Skin Hair Nail Joint - Hydrolyzed Collagen - Dairy and Gluten Free - 27g per Serving - Chocolate Flavor, 26.8 oz Canister https://a.co/d/idHj0Xc

Collagen is a natural protein source found in most animal meats. It’s definitely safe while breastfeeding.
