Hair Help!

I’m a first time Mama so really unsure what to do. Never dealt with curly hair before 🥲🥲 So my daughter is mixed (white Mama, African Dada) she has really curly hair but I’m really needing advice as to what to use on her hair 🙈😫 Usually give her a bath every 2/3 days and I shampoo and condition it with Johnson’s and it feels so soft and nice but then the next day or day after her hair will just feel really rough and course. Where am I going wrong 😫🥺

U need to give more info. Age of child? Hair type and amount of hair? Porosity? Current products? Are u washing it 2/3 times a week? Maintenance styles? Johnsons will dry out her hair too so id stop with that just forna start

Can you please provide a picture of her hair?

Ok she doesnt have much hair so styles will be very limited. Chuck the johnsons. Only wash 1 a week (i currently use herbal essenses on my lot) and for this amount of baby hair she has id use something light like kinky curly knot today while its damp (spray damp on non wash days) comb it thru and done. Repeat each morning. Once its longer than thicker u can put it into plaits so it stays better moisterised and doesnt tangle

@Gina thank you, I’ll place an order for herbal essences 🥰 what’s kinky curly knot 🙈🙈 do I just spray with water then on non wash days? X

Its a detangler but doubles as a light leave in. Yes spray with water

Yea

U dont need a lot either. It goes a long way

Herbal Essence has too many harmful ingredients for a child so young. Also, too much fragrance. Please stick to the brands that are catered to curly hair. Look into brand such as Cantu, Kinky-Curly and Shea Moisture. The ingredients are cleaner and the formulas are for African and Mixed-African hair textures. I know it must be difficult to navigate. Look up Christy Gior on YouTube and Instagram. She is a fantastic example of a white mom who learns to take care of her Black kids hair.

Johnson’s isn’t for her hair type tbf . Cantu , shea moisture or Mielle does the work , also wash the hair once a week as too much washing will strip it of its oils. Use Mielle leave in conditioner to style it every 2 days . Just a little bit and pat it through the hair then comb it .
