I wanted to go to a birthing center. So it was more of a "home" environment. But my state doesn't have them and the closest one in Ohio is over an hour away. So mine will be in the hospital as well. My "babysitter" to watch my 6 year old is an hour and a half away so we will see what happens. I hate that I can't bring my daughter to the hospital with me.

Exactly. I want my sons to be there with me too. Also thought of a birthing center but then it’s almost like you might as well. Just go to a hospital at that point because I don’t know if kids are allowed there.

On the other hand, though also there’s visitor limitations at the hospital that people can’t just ignore and show up with some people in my family might do so I’m thankful for that at least

Hi, I am having a homebirth and will have both my children home with me. I've asked them if they want to be here or elsewhere and they both want to be here! I will have my husband, my midwife, photographer and also my own mother will likely be here. I've had my mom present for all of my births, the first time.. for me. The second time for my daughter and this time she will be here for my kids again! It's best for me to have her here for them so that my husband and I can focus on the birth and the kids don't feel neglected or they have someone to make them food or hang out and just be there for them.

I love this. I want to do just that but I am not sure how one would go about that. Plus I’d assume I’d have to have changed to a midwife from my OB by now (at 37 weeks) but I am so envious of you in the best way. Best of luck to you all :)
Is this your first home birth?

it's my second homebirth, 3rd baby! And actually it's not too late to change! I switched from the OBs at the hospital to midwives at the hospital with my first around 35-36 weeks pregnant and then with my second, I only found my midwife for homebirth at like 37 weeks! Prior to her, I was at another practice --- most birth centers and homebirth midwives will actually give you a massive discount for a late transfer as they didn't provide any of the pregnancy services like blood work, ultrasounds, etc! It might be worth looking into if you really do want to have a homebirth or a more like.. intimate experience at a birth center 🥲 but I know sometimes switching later in pregnancy can feel daunting but it's usually when I feel the most compelled to make that decision and I feel more connected with my baby at this final stage
