I have been using Tommie Tippee 2.5 tog sleep bags, which recommends a long sleeve vest only underneath for my room temperature however I can’t help feel that baby is a bit unsettled at night and I’m wondering if he is cold as during the day I use a love to dream swaddle and cosy blanket with vest and baby grow for naps and he seems to sleep better (could be coincidence) but I only feel comfortable with these layers and loose blanket when I can keep an eye on him! Advice please?

I’ve been using Tommee tippee 2.5 tog sleep bag, long sleeve vest and a sleep suit. Feel like my baby would be cold without the sleepsuit x

thanks! What temperature is your room for this x

I’ve been using 1 tog sleep bag, vest and baby grow, or vest, baby grow and thin cotton swaddle and thin blanket. Feel like she’s always cold but the grow egg says it’s the right temp (19 degrees c) and only to use a 1 tog. Just ordered a love to dream mild swaddle to see if that makes her settle better.

Between 18-20 but usually 18 as heating goes off at 10 when we go to bed x

Safe sleep guidelines recommend that you don’t use a sleep bag with a tog rating for newborns xXx

I use vest, sleep suit, swaddle blanket and light blanket over legs. The room is 18 to 19c

1tog sleeping bag, vest and sleepsuit. Bedroom is around 20°c.
Our heating is set to 20 too.

Do you mind me asking where you’ve heard/read this? I’ve not come across that advice before

I’ve been using 2.5 tog swaddle l/grobag, short sleeve vest and long sleeve sleep suit. It could be the layers, but I have generally found that my LO doesn’t settle half as well as in the daytime and have read this is quite common so it could be that too x

A button onesie

Our room is usually 20°c at night, I put LO in a short sleeved vest, baby grow and a 1.5 tog sleeping bag x

U guys dress your babies like they’re sleeping in the mountain tops lol my baby won’t even sleep with a blanket or long sleeves 😂😂 we’re over here in a title onesie socks and no scratch mittens

it was mentioned in one of our NHS antenatal classes and also in two of the online classes we did with The Honest Midwife (the Parenting class and the Newborn Sleep class) x

How interesting that the advice would vary! And the NHS would contradict their own advice from online vs their in person classes!

Have you seen the winter love to dream swaddle bag? I didn’t see it when I bought the thinner ones but this one has a slight quilted feeling to it. X

you do know that ALL babies are different right?

@Rochelle did they say what the reason was?

Id like to know what the reason was too. We are still swaddling but have started using swaddles with velcro and newborn sleep bags because i was told sleep bags for newborn size were better than swaddles as they can’t become loose and cover the face?
