Do you get any grants or subsidy if you’re stay at home mom but your husband is working full-time? I am new to this I have a 13 month old looking to get back to work on a waitlist for a few spots open in the summer. Few people have said you get the one that everyone gets which is like 900 but I’m getting mixed answers.

I'm not sure if it's different between provinces, I was super confused on this too. From what I understand, there's the grant that everyone gets and it's automatically applied to the daycare fees. So our daycare is $1234 per month, and then the grant is automatically applied ($626 I think) so the rest becomes the portion we pay. But then you can also get the subsidy which is income based (it would be based on your family income, so you husband's income if you file as married). The max subsidy in alberta is $266. So $1234-$626-$266 = out of pocket portion. I hope that made sense!

I’m not sure what province you’re in but Alberta you get the grant and depending on dayhome vs daycare and 100hrs+ or less than 100hrs determines the amount you get. As for the subsidy I know you can’t be on ei. My cousin in law works from home/ runs a business and gets both the grant and subsidy. And the subsidy is based on household income.
very helpful! Thank you
