Hey lovelies,
Just a quick one at an anxious first time pregnant lady!😂.
Anyone else just buying a changing mat( not a fancy one) mines from boots £7 bargain😂 and just putting it on the bed to change or should I invest in a changing table i just don't want to waste money on a table when putting a mat on the bed and changing that way seems alot easier any advice.
Also should i get a nappy trolly or a nappy caddy which ones works best?

I wouldn’t bother with a changing table because then you’re restricted. The mat is enough and eventually you’ll find you won’t even use that! Also nappy caddy is easier in my opinion. Smaller/easier to move around from room to room if needed xx

Changing mat on floor would work better than bed as babies tend to wee and poop unexpectedly in the early weeks and could get all over the bed sheets whilst changing.
I didn’t ever use the changing table I bought for my first as I was scared of her rolling off it even though she was always supervised - just a worry I had!

I have already brought a changing table which has drawers for the nursery but I know that won’t be used for the me first 6 months until she transfer to her own room. I will be getting a portable changing mat to go in the nappy caddy in the bedroom so I can just change her in bed during the nights etc. But I am also planning on getting a nappy caddy to stay downstairs as well for ease x

Honestly I had a high up one I always used to change with a mat on the floor
Much easier to clean up any pee /poop/ vomit that flies around

Also please do not do it on the.bed I did this a few.times thinking it would be fine but I had.to change all the sheets due to previously mentioned accidents!!! 😅

I hated my changing table and got rid of it after a few months. It just took up a silly amount of space. We were happiest with a cheap mat on the floor.

We are doing what we did with my daughter as we have all the same furniture. We have a set of drawers which has the table on. Was a god send the first time around as I had an emergency c section… no way would I of been able to get down to a mat on the floor and the bed can be awkward or like I wouldn’t of been able to twist comfortably. For me we were wanting drawers anyway so we got the matching cot and drawers with the change table on top. I used it from day dot! Including putting the bath on top… again I wouldn’t have been able to bend down in to our bath so it was at a nice height for the first 6/8 weeks. And then after that the bath went in ours but I carried on using the change table. Everyone to their own though and I think depending on how the birth etc goes you can’t tell how mobile you’ll be. Xxx

We still use our changing table now and LO is 18 months old.
When he was younger we had a mat that we’d just put on the floor downstairs, but once he could crawl it was easier to stick him on the changing table so he could escape 😂

I just got a changing mat and used it wherever I was in the house at the time with baby, don’t go spending money it’s not a necessity babe x

I used both lots for different situations. Changing table in the early days when I was still very sore with stitches to sit on the floor or bed to change and also when straight out the bath. Plus I’ve always suffered from a bad back so appreciate changing baby at a reasonable height. Used this up until baby was 8 months maybe.
Changing mat for downstairs with nappy caddy and in our own bedroom for lazy mornings in bed (in the early days).

We had a changing mat that was used for about a week, found it easier to change on bed or sofa/floor. There were a few accidents but just a little clean /wash and all was fine! As for nappy caddy/trolly we had a caddy for by the side of the bed and used the changing bag for downstairs, found this good as we were always ready to go out as bag was always stocked up

I still use my changing table now. I had a c section so there’s no way I could have got down on the floor or used the bed. I use the changing table upstairs and downstairs I have a mat that I put on the table when needed x

Oh and I still use my nappy caddy now x

We have a chest of drawers with changing table top which my partner especially loved using with our first babe for overnight changes. We kept a changing mat plus a nappy caddy downstairs for daytime changes and plan to do the same this time as that combo worked well for us.
