Mines been like this on both sides from the start (currently 6 weeks pp) and it hasn’t closed up at all! I was back and forth doctors and the hospital as I had after birth left and the hospital told me that it was normal as the skin pulls more in those areas and I was left🤷🏼♀️ that was 3 weeks ago and the one side still hasn’t closed up!! Xx
Get a doctor's appointment asap - there is redness, is there heat as well? There's no harm in a doctor's appointment to check and stop you wondering. A call to your HV or named midwife might also be an option.
@Emily this has happened to me and I’ve been given antibiotics and cream and I wondered how long it took for yours to close in the end?
@Jenna I didn’t go to the doctors, but did show the nurse at my babies jab appointment. She said to keep it as dry as possible and gave me some dressings to press against it. It kinda grossed me out tbh, so it didn’t look at it very often which I obviously wouldn’t recommend but I checked it about a week later and it had closed up like normal. I was expecting a dimple but it was as if it was never there. :) x
I noticed mine a week ago today and it hasn’t closed up yet but I think it is closing up. Mine is weeping slightly though and I have to take antibiotics and apply cream. I just hope it closes soon!
@Jenna I’m sure it will :) I think the key thing is to just make sure it doesn’t get infected. I think signs of that are oozing, smelly, itchy, bright red etc but im sure your antibiotics will make sure that doesn’t happen. Good luck with it! X
I know this post is a while ago but what did they do I have notice mine has opened and I’m scared xx
@Lauren Scott they didn’t do anything, I just kept it dry as possible and it closed up after about a week or so. Just make sure it doesn’t get infected, mine didn’t :) x
Thank you I went to gp today and they said the same ! It’s not infected at moment and keeping it dry . Xx
Mines done the same, 8w PP on Sunday. I tried to let it heal for 2w on its own, but it didn't work. I've had to have antibiotics and topical cream, and it's still not closing! I'd go doctors just incase x
