Kinda more a question for melanin mamas..

For starters I’m 25 and my children’s father is 27. I’m white and he is black. Therefore our children are mixed. Not only do I give lots of shits in general but I didn’t really grow up with much culture and I think there is a lot of both screwed up and beautiful black history, not that everything needs to be learned all at once right now because my boys are literally only 2 years and one is 4 months. However I got excited because I saw a post with lotssss of kids shows that are more inclusive and the dad doesn’t give a shit about anything and says I shouldn’t be worried about them learning of their culture because I’m white. He said he should be concerned about that and not me… but he doesn’t care. Am I over stepping like frfr? I’m not one to wash history away.. I don’t wanna be THAT person that’s doing too much but I don’t want to fail my boys in some way either. I even personally study different cultures in college because I love the differences between everyone in the world 🙄🤦‍♀️

No! You are their mother and it is your job to learn and teach them as they will not learn this stuff in school with the way the world is working now.
I'm black and my husband is Korean. I am currently pregnant and studying and having him and his family teach me all they can before my baby arrives because at the end of the day, we mothers will be with our children most and they will follow our lead. Teaching them is what we need to do. So if your hubby is not supporting that girl just learn it on your own and teach those babies.

As you said, just don't teach them in a way that will cover or water down the history. Buy those books and teach them to love themselves too.

Also, tell pops to let up because you are the mother of these boys and you have every right to be concerned. Don't divide the household but stand strong together as one.

thank you for reinforcing how I feel! I think it would be a huge disservice to them if we didn’t actively encourage it because as you said the schools won’t be teaching this stuff and I think there are a lot of special things about where everyone or their ancestry comes from that deserve to be cherished ♥️

It's so important and those kids will appreciate that you taught them when they are older! Stand your ground and good luck!

You're doing the right thing and being a great Momma

I read this before I read the title so not a melanin mama but of course you have the right to teach your children their history, it’s a shame their dad isn’t interested, how about your in laws though would they be interested in helping you teach your boys?

You should be able to teach your boys that stuff and dad should be more involved so you are all learning at teaching together. My mother is half black and white and her white mum was the same. When they’re older they’ll appreciate it.

Do it! You’re not gonna regret it. Starting it when they’re younger is gonna help b/c it shows how serious you are about them knowing their history and they absorb everything! That’s why it’s easier to teach multiple languages at a younger age, they’re more likely to retain it. Plus, you can make it fun for them to learn. Kinda sucks the dad isn’t helping in that aspect but, maybe he’ll come around🤞🏾.

I agree with you should definitely teach them starting young and they will be so happy that you taught them when they get older

Is it normal to test positive still? (Wouldn't usually do one)

Not the best pic and clearer in person. Is this normal? I've not had any sex since having my LO but I've had strong cravings, sense of smell is strong and my hair still hasnt started to fall out. Im 7 weeks pp so 🤷‍♀️ I wouldnt normally bother testing but with those symptoms that I never really have its like whats going on. Cravings for something very specific too and can only get from KFC now 😩 so its annoying

Anyone have this happen before?

We were not trying to conceive, used protection and had sex on week 2 of my cycle (accidentally on my peak ovulation day). Week 3 we had Flu A. Week 4 my period did not come (it’s very regular). I tested and it was negative (2 different brands).
What should have been week 2 of my next cycle (now 6 weeks post last period), I had light red/ pink spotting for one day when I wiped. The following week, I tested again, still negative, but this time almost all the dye was in the negative space, which I’ve never seen happen before. The area where it shows one horizontal line for negative and a plus sign for positive, the horizontal line was super faded at the 3 minute mark, and the negative vertical line in the next window was VERY dark. Now I’m on week 8 of all this, period did not show up yesterday. Nothing in my life has changed (no additional stress, no other illness, no changes in diet or exercise, etc).

Has anyone gone through this and NOT been pregnant? I’m super nervous as we thought we were done having kids.

PS. I know I should go get a blood test, does anyone know if urgent care will do that? I’m past being convinced by a pee test.

Am I pregnant?

I lightly spotted almost 5 days ago, which is not common for me before my period.
My period was supposed to come today. I should have tested in the morning but its 5:30pm.
Is there a second line??

Can baby mamas be friends?

My son has an older brother from his biodad. Biodad has never had contact with my son. One thing lead to another though and the other child's mother and I got in contact and are planning a meeting for the boys. Biodad has no idea any of this has happened. Biodad also hasnt had contact with the other child in about 2 years. Just thoughts, opinions, anyone been through something similar?
Edit-Thank you all! Have definitely been feeling somewhat weird about it because we never met before but now know it can be a good thing definitely helps. I can't wait for them to meet. My son has been asking for a brother and I can now happily tell him he has one. That just happens to be 13. Im sorry for yall that fight/have issues with the other baby mamas. Sadly some women rather be stuck on the men, when the kid is the one who really matters. They're the ones that end up getting hurt and missing out.
