11 Month Old & Sleep

So my LO has always been cuddled & rocked to sleep and now is way too heavy for me to keep on doing it! But because its all know won’t settle without is it too late for some kind of sleep training? Have I made a rod for my own back😬🙈

The thought of the cry out method I personally know could not do but unsure what other methods there are out there that are more on the gentle side but work?

Please share your experiences thank you!!

From one tired and back aching mumma😂

Can you try back rubs or head strokes until he falls asleep. He's still having contact that way x x

I still cuddle my 11 month old to sleep but as I transfer to cot she wakes slightly and then settles back to sleep in her cot with my hand on her side (she likes to sleep on her side to begin with). Help would be great stopping the cuddles. Plus she will inly contact nap in the day 🤦🏻‍♀️

We are in the same boat, I’ve done lots of reading about how and we’ve started rocking to sleepy not asleep and putting him down and that’s working till eventually you can decrease the rocking so much it’s just a cuddle & put down. Hoping it works as can’t cope with cry it out. My LO starts at a childminder in a couple of weeks and she won’t have time to rock him to sleep fully for naps so trying my best to help him adjust before. She won’t let him cry it out but worried he just won’t sleep!! If you find a magic answer please post 😂

So on the request that a few people have ask to message them I thought ide write here- please note I am NOT A professional, just one mum to another.

My son is in his bed with toys at least once a day to make it a super familiar place for him. Sometimes 10 mins sometimes 1 hour.

Making a set bedtime routine.

-bath every night- just water play (we make it fun and run to the bath)

-get dressed, and read a book.

-got into sleeping bag

-occasional small play in his bedroom.

-Have some milk (Breast fed)

-my son would help turn off the big light.

-we say goodnight to the small light and he switches that off

To start with for a week I did lights then fed, then did feed then lights off And down awake or asleep.

Now this didn't work every time BUT we stayed consistent. After putting my son down into bed, even if it was a gut wrenching cry ide make sure I was out the room and door shut before I decided what to do.

Sometimes I would go straight back in (you know your own child)

And sometimes I would sit and cry outside his room 😂

And others just try and distract myself.

The first time he did it he cried loud for 2/3 mins (feels like eternity) BUT after being patient he calmed down to more of a mumbling cry and fell asleep within 10 mins.

It now takes him 2/3 mins to fall asleep, sometimes with a cry sometimes without.

All I can say is put your baby down at the right time and fed and you know they're ok and see what happens.

I would have laughed and said no to this a month ago but it literally took 10 mins 2 days in a row and now I know he is capable of it.
