I understand people may not wish to discuss this in the comments but I’m just wondering if anyone has any stories of birth whilst carrying the virus for years previously? I understand it’s more of a risk if the virus is contracted for the first time whilst you’re pregnant, thanks ❤️

If you have had it in the past, they will give you antibiotics for it (even if you dont have a flare up) from 36 weeks as a preventative. They dont want you having a flare up when you give birth as it can be passed onto baby

that's not strictly speaking true, they didn't for me. I didn't have a flare up during so everything was fine, but if I had any signals I was about to flare up it would have changed our plans to a section as, yes, it can be spread to baby which is v dangerous

Told by consultant that If you’ve had it years and don’t often have flare ups, you should take medication (preventative) from 36 weeks to avoid a flare up during labour. If you have a flare up they opt for a c section to keep the baby safe.
