Eczema cream reccomendations for 18 month old please?

Follow I’m interested in this too. My little one is riddled. I have found aveno dermexa oat soak in his bath, dermexa wash and the emollient helps massively. But I’m after something else for when he flares xx

I use Cetraben cream. You can get it over the counter but I get it prescribed and then it’s free. If it gets really bad the only thing that shifts it is a steroid cream from the doctors. We also use hydromol emollient in the bath

I’m on hydrocortisone and euomavate steroid when bad. Still can’t shift it in places. Think I’ll have to go back

We've had hydrocortisone and we are prescribed epimax - seems to be doing okish on that! Random flare ups all the time though!

I've tried so many creams but the one that seems to work for my boy is just cere ve moisturising cream for very dry skin. Just over the counter. He doesn't have any visible exzema anymore but if he does have a tiny flare up I do use hydrocortisone once and it stops it. I ran out of this cream last week and tried another and his patches came back straight away then 1 day back on cere ve and he was clear again xxx

Don’t use any steroid creams that doctors prescribe you. They only work while you’re using the cream and as soon as you stop it’ll come back. I would check what the baby is eating or if you’re still heavily breastfeeding checking what you’re eating. Eczema is gut related + allergy. But with my baby I used coconut oil + the eucerin eczema lotion, and cetaphil baby wash it’s for sensitive skin and aquaphor. Honestly when she broke out I would use all of that after bath everyday and put her in a long sleeve onsie so it soaks into her skin.

Steroid creams have worked for me but only if you phase them off it. I had the same problem when stopping after a week. Most doctors don’t seem to know but the dermatologist explained it needs to be phased out. It will still flare up again at some point, that’s the nature of exzema unfortunately

We got Betnovate prescription as it’s more gentle than the steroids ?

Oilatum cream

We have zeroderm, hydrocortisone, fucidin H, hydromol, protopic, eumovate, mometasone and epimax. Our son has really bad flare ups all over his body but mainly legs and face. We’ve found constantly applying zeroderm has kept it at bay along with just wiping his face with a wet clean flannel rather than baby wipes after food. The fucidin works well when its really flared but I think it stings his face. As for the mometasone and eumovate theyre so oily they irritate him even more than helping! And the hydromol in the bath is a life saver!
