What’s your take?

I recently told my husband some of the stories about nightmare MILs from Reddit and he told his mom what I was saying. She doesn’t speak English so he normally translate our convos. She was curious what I was telling so he told her then she launched into a rant at him.

He translated back that she said it’s actually DILs that are the problem because they are spoiled and lazy and expect to be waited on hand and foot.

Like wtf?

Hmm, maybe she sees herself in those stories?

like how she behaves as a MIL or as a DIL when she was younger? I don’t always agree with her and she def has boundary issues but I’d never classify her as a monster

99.9 percent of the "nightmare MIL" stories I've seen have absolutely ZERO to do with DILs wanting to be waited on hand and foot. 😂 All most of us wanna do is raise our kids without MIL interference because *gasp*...WE are actually the mothers. The problems arise when the MILs aren't able to quietly relinquish control and take their proper place in the hierarchy.

@incog as a MIL, so she has to make it someone else's problem

maybe the language barrier is sparing me from a lot of drama

Oh she definitely took it personal. He should have told her you were only talking about what you saw not about her. Ugh men. I hope he corrected her on it.
