contractions from 1-10 how painful is it and can you die of the pain being too much to bare? (I’m nearly due and want to mentally prepare myself)

I don’t think you can die of pain, I honestly wasn’t very well prepared (mentally) baby was also sunny side up 😅 so I’d say 100! HOWEVER, time flew by, and 31hours felt like 3, you absolutely can do this xx

Thank you so much for your advice, it’s helpful ❤️

Youtube breathing for birth. It's all in the breathing. If you can find your breath I can honestly say the pain is 50% less. You are made for this, complelty give your self and body to the birth, allow your body to guide you. Xx you can this, you're a woman. Xx

You won't die from the pain😂 though on a pain scale of 1-10 I did say 20. Just tell urself it's only for a while and then u get to see ur cute baby

I broke an ankle once. Up to the labour that was the worst pain I've ever experienced. Each contraction was *much* worse than that. And lasted for hours and hours. It was awful. Hypnobirthing did nothing. TENS machine was marginally helpful, but epidural was the only thing that actually made a difference.

For me normal contractions are not painful enough that you feel like you might die. But the artificial contractions I felt like I was close to my own death. Bare in mind I did them both on gas and air which only makes you feel 🤢. But just tell yourself it's painful and try to hold ice and breathing through it. If you can relax through it you can push your baby out. But you got this!

I was induced, I was on gas & air, pethidine, and had to beg for epidural in the end.

I think she means induced ones.

I have experienced 3 types of contractions. Started at 2am which were bearable for me as my pain threshold is quiet high from severe period pain from a young age but of course more painful than period. Then the 2nd type of contractions were in the morning 1-2 every 10 mins, painful but only for a few seconds then it will pass. When I started having them closer I had to sit down every time they came as the pain was so intense, I could barely walk/talk. That was next level, it was so painful that I asked to have epidural as soon I stepped in to the hospital. My baby arrived 3 hours later and didn’t need to have epidural as I was so exhausted and half asleep already, I had gas and air and another injection. Would I do it again? I don’t know but if I made it then YOU CAN. That was my biggest scare from a very young age but I made it!

@Amina lol Braxton hicks? Don't believe I've ever experienced them to be fair. But no actual labour. Natural labour and being induced.

I hired a TENS machine (think that's what it's called..been 10 months now, I forgot lol) and that was lifesaver. I don't think I'd have coped without one & used it up until epidural was given

so firstly your body wouldn’t let you stay conscious through more pain than you could bare ( you’d just pass out). secondly you’ve got this! i was terrified of giving birth and actually it wasn’t as painful as i thought it would be and actually pushing the baby out wasn’t the post painful part for me. the contractions just before i got into my birth pool ( basically back to back)were the hardest part . sending you love and if you haven’t already i would definitely recommend perineal massages to help prepare ❤️

I thought I was mentally prepared, but once you are in labour you forget everything 😅 My contractions pain was like 8 out of 10. The pain has a pattern and you just follow it. I was in labour for 8 hrs with oxytocin, no epidural, no gas. In general it was bearable and pretty much ok

You won’t die from the pain although it is painful but you somehow get through it. I was left all alone from 0-10cm without even gas and air and managed to get through it (not like I had a choice). Look into breathing techniques and I’ve heard tens machine can be helpful. Looking back if I was offered the epidural I would have taken it

The pain is awful, not gonna lie, makes you want to die, but it's only temporarily. You'll feel amazing afterwards and I promise, you will forget what it felt like soon after. It's nature's way of guaranteeing you are doing it again 😅

I believe and I have heard that if your contractions came naturally they are not so bad as if you will be induced. I was induced, and in the beginning I was thinking I don't need any painkillers, gas or epidural....I can tolerate pain quite well, but when my contractions started...ohh, it was something...I would scream and all my body was in awful pain...I was induced , and I believe if it was a natural birth I would feel much better with it, but otherwise I had no choice and asked for the epidural

They are very painful on the closer to 10 side, but all depends on length of labour and how long you have the most painful contracts and your own pain threshold. The quicker the labour the better basically 😅
