Bruises from crawling

Looking for reassurance, my little boy is nearly a year and has finally joined the crawling club 🄳 he’s just started to get good at it and quite fast so can’t keep him just on his lovely soft play mat all the time, so he’s regularly crawling on laminate and kitchen tiles (always supervised). He’s now got these small yellow bruises on both his thighs and both his forearms. They are never dark always brown/yellow bruises. Is this normal? He doesn’t raise his body when crawling but wiggles with his tummy on the floor or just a tiny bit raised. Called the HV and she said take him to GP which I will but petrified they will raise safeguarding concerns! (Long story short my son has Lymphoedema which causes permanent swelling in one leg and when we took him to Drs at 3m to investigate we were investigated by social services and police and held in hospital for 2 weeks until finally got a diagnosis). So this is making me so badly anxious to take him in, as I know it’s caused by the crawling. 😭 Does anyone else’s little ones get bruised just from crawling not from falling over?

My little boys legs are covered with bruises from crawling and from sitting/dropping to his knees abruptly when standing. Somr of them make me worry I hold his ankles to firmly when he's wriggling during nappy change as they look fingerprint sized but most are around his knees and I don't hold there. You always worry though don't you. Better to be taking him to GP rather than not following HV advice which would flag up worse.xx

Yea totally normal wait till the start pulling up and walking .. then the bruises will be on their head 😩all part of moving and learning unfortunately. They will fade and become less as they get used to moving around and start walking

Our girl doesn't have bruises but I'm so sorry to hear what happened- that's awful really and I'm not surprised you are nervous

Thanks all! I thought it was normal but HV said not unless they knock themselves… will call Gp tomorrow. I’ve taken pics of the bruises and a video of him crawling to show them so fingers crossed they don’t do the same again šŸ¤žšŸ¼šŸ˜

I'm so sorry that happened to you!! No wonder you're worried about the bruises and what the doc will say.

Bruises have to be normal in mobile babies. They bang themselves against EVERYTHING. My baby is walking and has bruises on her shins and knees all the time from falling, tripping, crashing into something.
