Can anyone help me with this? Idk how to ask.
Some background:
I do not have contact with my mom, I haven’t in over a year, she doesn’t even know I’m pregnant (this is our first).
My MIL and I have a strange relationship where sometimes it’s great and other times not, but mostly just that she can be a weird “boy mom” type deal. It’s never truly detrimental to myself/husband/family. BUT for the entirety of my pregnancy, she’s been great.
I have been thinking a lot about how I envision what my birth will look like and the more I think about it, the more I’d like her there. Just her though, not my FIL or SIL (who is 5+ years younger than us and still lives at home).
ANYWAYS, any advice on how to ask my MIL to be there?

Ask her if she’d be comfortable being in the delivery room with you because you’d like her there as your second support person besides your husband

Talk to her about your birth plan, and then ask her if she could help be your advocate.

I think just ask her. She’ll probably love to be there and so happy to be a support to you. Just say “I really want you to be there I can only have 2 support people due to Covid restrictions(eliminates her bringing others) so I want you to be one along with your husband”
