Labour and Birth

I have 6 weeks left until I'm due to have our little man. This is my first pregnancy and it wasn't a planned one either. I've been watching so many videos about the signs of labour and what to expect.

I was wondering what everybody has experienced ? They say everybody's experiences are unique and I'm curious what I should expect.

I have 6 weeks left aswell hun, but this bag is my second, every person is different every labour is different, there can be no signs and it can be sudden or you will notice things like mucus plug leaving, the best person to ask is your midwife.

With my first my waters never gushed out they was leaking the whole way through my labour.

Hope you have a blessed delivery 🩷

For your first birth you should expect it to be longer and progress more slowly. If you aren't sure if you have real contractions try taking a warm bath and laying down, if they are labor contractions they will keep coming.
In my first my waters didn't break and I didn't feel anything before labor started, lost my mucus plug the night before my baby was born, contractions progressed slowly.

With my first my waters broke like you see on tv/in the movies but was luckily sat on the toilet at the time! Had no signs before except a little bit of a dodgy tummy - but I’d had that for a few days on and off.
After my waters broke I started getting period type pains which then intensified over the next half hour or so and became proper contractions at regular intervals. I went to the hospital and was 4cm dilated. I was then in labour for quite a long time as my dilation slowed down and stayed at 9cm for ages. Ended up going to theatre for forceps delivery and baby was born 18 hours after my waters broke.

This will be my 3rd and I'm feeling like I have a little more of a clue but honestly. You just never know πŸ˜… My 1st I went into labour at 36+6 &I was SO tired late morning,I went back to bed. Woke up, sat up and some waters left BUT I thought it was pee as I'd been "leaking" what I'm now not sure was pee for a few days so didn't think much of it. A few hours later my back started hurting so much that it stopped me doing what I was doing and wouldn't get better no matter what position I put myself in.. I now know that was my contractions! Went in to be seen & midwives were as surprised as I was that my waters had gone & everything progressed SO SLOWLY over night. My 1st baby was born the following early afternoon.
2nd baby was very different. I had what I now know as mild contractions (around my tummy and back) for about a week building up. Went to bed & my back started hurting, pain I recognised from my 1st! I got some sleep, woke a couple hours later, needing a wee & waters gushed out!
Goodluck πŸ’™

Wishing you the best of luck and wishes with your C-section. I had been so nervous at the thought of having a c-section but a lot of women have said that they found it so much better than having to push a baby out. And the fact that they knew when they were going in rather than waiting to go into labour they liked too.

What is the sweep check?
I'm guessing a vaginal examination of sort.
