Tips for travelling

Hi all, we are going to Cyprus on good Friday. Any tips? Have people found nappies, wipes, calpol, milk when abroad? Or do we need to pack the kitchen sink? Did people take a car seat and a buggy? Or hire the seat over there? Also what did u dress them in? Or was it mostly swimwear and nappy? I'm slightly obsessed with buying clothes just wondering if it's even worth it lol šŸ¤”. How wer babies on the actual flight?

I would pack all of those items, also check wether you need to use bottled water to make feeds abroad as tap water isn’t as safe.
I’ve heard people don’t use car seats when travelling from airport to hotel etc but I don’t know how I feel about that.
I’ve not been abroad with my little one but I would pack all of the above, try and find a compact buggy to take with you as a carry on, and clothes I’d just pack vests sleep suits and swimwear really! It’s going to be hot x

You can get inflatables on Amazon that have a cover attached - great for sun protection while staying cool in the water.

So we went to Cyprus when our baby was 3 months old - the car seats provided with car rentals are APPALLING!! We will now always rent one that we know and like or we’ve got a spare one for holidays. It was really stressful and was so dangerous we didn’t take the car out.
Depends where you are staying, we ran out of nappies so we went to the little shops and pampers were equivalent to almost £20! So we went to Lidl and got nappies there. They were surprisingly pretty good

Taken my little boy abroad 5 times (I know šŸ˜‚) so well versed!

Nappies and wipes can be super expensive so take as many as you can! We ran out in both Portugal and lanzarote and had to pay much more than home!
Take calpol, teething powder and thermometer.

Transfers are touch and go with car seats, we’ve had 2 great and a few awful. We’ve never rented a car so haven’t needed a car seat so no idea!

If you’re going self catering, ask about a high chair. Tesco do disposable bibs which we’ve found useful this week when out and about for snacks etc but I’ve taken his coverall bib for breakfast and dinner. Also remember babies cutlery, water cup and loads of snacks haha.

White noise machine and night light from home are useful :) also grab a snooze shade from Vinted if your babe will go in the pram!

The flight will be better than you imagine šŸ˜‚ although it might not feel like it, 95% of the other passengers will love seeing your baby! Take snacks, books, toys etc.

Baby carrier - my boy hates the pram so lives in a baby carrier but it’s super useful at airport and on the plane if you have a nosy baby!

Feel free to message if you have any random travel related questions 😁

Buy ear defenders for the flight just incase! My baby slept through takeoff as soon as I put them on his ears(try and time naps with the floght). Lots of gentle rocking and shushing and they'll be fine. Download some programmes on your phone if needs be as it's a long journey. 9 times out of 10 they'll just be looking around at everyone anyway so don't worry about the flight too much😊. I took a fold up bath seat as its so slippy holding them in your hands!!!. I'd day definitely bring your own formula, they do have alternatives but best to stick with your own. You can't drink the tap water so you'll have to buy bottles once you get there and boil it as usual to make up bottles. Don't buy too many clothes..... its sooooooo hot in the day!!!! My baby was in all cotton vests and shorts and muslin over his legs in his pram to cover him up. Definitely buy a fan that you can attach to the pram!!! I bought a cooling mat that I put in the pram with a blanket ontop for him to be extra cool!
Have a great holiday šŸ˜„

From experience, everywhere closes in Cyprus for Easter weekend so there will be very little shops open so take as much as you can!

Is this normal?

Is it just my husband that does this? He is able to work from home via his computer and in the mornings and evenings he is on there doing his job. When he is done for the day he tends to stay in the room and either play video games or watch something. He will occasionally come out and play with the girls for a few minutes and that’s it but when I really need him he says he is busy. My daughters are both 1 year old now and I am just wondering how much involvement should he have with them now?
Idk if this is the norm or not…..

Saying NO to buying toys etc

5 year old is getting really envious of others. He is obsessed with items that other kids have at school. I am pestered daily to buy these things in a different style when we already have 3 others. I have seen parents just buying stuff their kid likes which I don't necessarily agree with even when i can afford it. How do you deal with it?

Tablet for kids

Alright don’t need any negative Nancy’s telling me not to get my 2yo a tablet so if that’s what your gunna do please don’t participate in my poll.

We’re about to move cross country 3+ day trip and my 2yo and 9m hate the car I’m talking scream their heads off till they are out of their seats. We’ve already changed car seats and it didn’t help so I’d like to at least have one entertained and sit next to baby and try and distract her or put her to sleep. Our new car has tvs but since they are rear faced my 2yo can’t see it.

Debating getting her a tablet or dvd player right now on long car rides I end up giving her my phone because I get so overwhelmed sitting in between both of them screaming and crying.

And yes I do bring different toys I bring snacks I play songs try to distract her other ways but for the sake of not losing my mind on this move I think this is best.

-A very overwhelmed and anxious to move mama šŸ˜“

Daycare?

Thoughts on daycare?? Truly, I am SCARED to be leaving my kid for daycare. I literally do not trust anyone, not even family (they haven’t given me a reason it’s just trust issues on my end, you never know). He’s turning 3 and I’ve been a sahm the whole time but tbh my man doesn’t make enough for us to move out somewhere more calm . We live in a ā€˜not so safe’ area in LA and I’m just not used to living here so I just want us to give my son a better life and in order to speed up the process I would have to work.. I do lashes at home and I’d be open to take new clients so I wouldn’t have to look for work but I’m just scared to lose my license 😭

5 month old activities

Hey everyone my baby is 5 months old and I want to reduce/cut screen time as I have read up on how bad it is what activities did people do to keep their baby entertained. Thank you in advance.
