Allergies

Does anyone else’s baby have allergies/allergic to anything? My baby boy has shown that he’s allergic to a handful of things. The earliest allergen appointment we could get is next Tuesday. I’ve been on edge because he’s had 3 allergic reactions this month alone. My anxiety is on 10. Any other mommas dealing with this?! Ugh I feel so alone…

I had my sons allergist appointment last month. He gave us an Epi pen and did a scratch test (only the top allergens) however I feel I didn't get answers to a lot of the questions I had. My son showed allergies to egg and dairy however he reacts to a handful of things as well, food can be so stressful but luckily our only reaction has been hives so far.

What type of allergic reaction has your son been getting? I give my son 2 ml of childrens Benadryl and it usually takes away his symptoms within 30 minutes

Yes! We are dealing with it too! We got an epipen after our scratch test and have started doing oral immunotherapy to try to work them out. My allergist feels like it is something we can get him past by the age of 2 or 3. I think he has other allergies too, but we are just working through egg and tree nut right now. Benadryl works and we also are mostly hives and get red rashes around his mouth. You aren’t alone! Reach out with questions!!!

His first reaction was horrible. It was to cashews. He vommited, had hives EVERYWHERE, and had diarrhea. It was so scary.

The second times have only been hives. I’m unsure if he’s allergic to strawberries and some type of flower/tree bc after our walks sometimes he gets hives. Introducing new foods hasn’t been easy for me just bc of the anxiety of it all. But thanks for the tip of giving benadryl right away

Yeah, my son also got an epipen. I hope he grows out of it too bc this is scary!!

My son reacted (hives and facial swelling) to tuna today, it just constantly feels like the list of allergies is getting bigger! We were also told he would hopefully outgrow his allergies by 3. The Benadryl has definitely calmed my nerves quite a bit and I'm able to catch his ques early and treat him fairly quickly! I don't give him anything he hasn't tried when out and about and I feel somewhat comfortable experimenting with new foods at home. He's been getting hives since 4 months, so I have had a bit more time to feel comfortable. I hope your appointment goes well!

Hey mama! I am just seeing this. I hope baby is doing well and things are getting easier for you! We found out our LO is allergic to nuts, dairy and eggs. So we’ve just been super careful and not keeping those things in the house. I’m glad the Benadryl helps your nerves, it’s hard!
