Hello, has anyone had a Posterior Circumvallate Placenta and had any problems? Most women don’t have a problem with it but I’ve had some struggles since finding out. How did you deal with it?

I have the same thing, except mine is anterior. I also have my cord connected to the side of the placenta instead of the center ( I can't remember the name for it). I'm supposed to go back for another scan around 32 weeks to make sure my baby is still growing at the right rate and getting the nutrition he needs. I'm trying not to overthink it cause my midwife made it seem like it wasn't a big deal, but then you google it and it makes you worry. I was planning to have an all natural birth like my first, but now I'm considering getting an epidural in case any emergency happens, I'll be prepared for surgery or whatever.

It is really scary, I feel like the doctors don’t explain well enough. All mine said was that I can go into labor early and have a possible miscarriage because of lack of oxygen. They tell us not to look it up because it’s scary to read everything, but I feel like you should read about it because obviously people have had problems in the past, and we need to be ready for anything that could potentially happen.

Agreed. My sister had placenta accreta (the Dr knew ahead of time but didn't worry her) so she had a natural birth then after started bleeding out and the Dr was elbow deep inside of her trying to pull and scrape to stop the bleeding. They were minutes away from giving her an emergency hysterectomy to save her life. She said that post birth experience was 10x worse than the labor and birth. Even though that was a different case than mine, I want the epidural in case an emergency C-section or something happens

I might even consider a schedule caesarean to calm my nerves. I don't know yet. Whats your plan?

See that’s kinda where I’m at, I honestly feel like my baby will come early so I don’t know weather or not to schedule anything or not. I’m really wanting to do it all natural.

@Amelia letting your Dr know your plan is your best option. If you opt out of an epidural but in your mind you think you MAY change your decision let them know. Getting the anesthesiologist at short notice is difficult and does not always have the best timing... so at very least let the hospital know you want to have someone on standby just in case. I thought the same thing bit when I had to be induced at 37 weeks I went from 3cm-9cm in less than an hour and they say Pitocin makes the contractions worse and girl I believe it! I was begging for that epidural at 4cm and when he was done it was almost too late. I got about 10 min to try to relax then it was go time! So even if you have the slightest idea you will want one it's better to be prepared! Good luck and keep the positive vibes! Do your research on things for understanding purposes only, and not to scare yourself.

Remember being pregnant is risky in itself and a lot of what we read on Google is going to be the worst case scenario but there are many many cases where people may have something and it turns out for good. Just keep up the good work!

Hello! I’m 26 weeks and I was diagnosed with a circumvallate placenta (anterior) they said this is because my placenta is rounded at the edges instead of flat. I am seeing high risk maternal fetal medicine because I’m 35. They scheduled me an extra scan at 28 weeks prior to 32 weeks just to make sure that baby is still measuring normal. All she said was that some babies measure smaller with this type of placenta - she was not concerned about it. This was at my 21 week scan. I asked her if I can lift anything heavy or have intercourse and she said yes not to worry. When I saw my gynecologist they brought up my placenta type but did not seem concerned either. I looked the name up on Google and showed them some of the reports and findings and they said it is still a very very small percentage of women that these complications happen to. They told me to stay off Google. I am highly concerned as this pregnancy follows a loss. I hope this info helps. Try not to stress!

Yeah, unfortunately there’s several different types. my placement is completely folded in half. My OBGYN told me I shouldn’t really lift anything besides my 1 Y/O. Truly, no one really knows what can happen.

is your baby measuring normal? I believe my placenta is just rounded at the edges but cord insertion and size is normal. I have my scan this week.

hey I got told I have this yesterday and wondering if you could share how your pregnancy progressed? ☺️
