I failed my 1 hr glucose test ...

I'm going back to the doctor's office to do the 3 hrs glucose test ...
Anyone else is going through the same thing?

I’m currently at the doctors office now. 4 blood draws before I leave. Really sucks! I think my first one was a bad read cause I ate a light breakfast that morning.

Avatar

I failed both . And got the GD label, if I could go back in time I’d tell myself it’s okay and better to know now and be able to help the baby grow in a healthy way. I was diet controlled and didn’t have to take meds. It’s okay either way, pass or fail. It will be ok

Edit: had a healthy baby boy vaginally at 40 weeks

Yeah, failed one hour passed 3 hour

Me too, took the 3 hr one yesterday—hoping I pass this time! Good luck mama! šŸ¤žšŸ»

Yeah me too . I just got a call from the diabetes midwife to come in tomorrow to see her šŸ¤¦šŸ¾ā€ā™€ļø

Just took my three hour yesterday, ngl I almost threw up the drink but held it together bc they said I’d have to come back and do it again 😩

It’s annoying but I’m glad the testing is out of the way. I was told no food/drink before my test and my results were well under the threshold for each hour. Four separate blood draw sticks is unpleasant. That and the crystallized sugars sticking to the back of your throat. Bring a book, the wait is the hardest part. I had snacks and a liter of water ready for me right after then went to a good restaurant to break my fast. You’ve got this!

I really wish I had bought my book. I didn’t even think about it.

anything to pass the time is fine, I wasn’t allowed to leave the waiting area so I switched between my phone and my book. Maybe some online sudoku or crossword puzzles might help

I failed my 1 hour test as well and passed the 3 hour one. The lab I went to had an area specific to the glucose tests so I got to lay down in between draws! Definitely ask if you can do the same. Good luck & deep breathes!

I go back Monday for my three hour šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

Half way through my 3 hour now. 2 draws down 2 more to go šŸ™ƒ

Avatar

that’s a lot of draws!!!

Avatar

they draw when you first come in for a fasting reading, then you drink the drink, then every hour after that for 3 hours they check your blood to see how your body reacts to the sugar.

There’s a lot of false positives out there… for that reason I opted out entirely for the test and just acknowledged that I needed to have a healthy minimal sugar diet. I eat lots of protein and try to walk 30 minutes a day. Look up the protocols for diabetes, you don’t have to take insulin shots it just means baby might be a little bit more big. It’s not the end all if you fail the test there’s worse outcomes than that. That drink is disgusting and has side effects for some women. Doctor might want you to take another test and fast the night before which you have the right to refuse…. Listen to your instincts and study up on pros and cons. I know a lot of midwives who don’t even require a glucose test because they are kind of irrelevant in a lot of ways

I failed my 1 hour and 3 hour… I have gestational diabetes but luckily I’m able to control it with a super strict eating plan. It’s frustrating but manageable.
I am an extremely healthy eater, underweight when I got pregnant, I’ve only gained 15 pounds at 31 weeks, work out daily, and it doesn’t run in my family.
My dr says it’s just the placental hormones.

Hoping you pass your 3 hour! But sharing my situation because I have yet to encounter anyone with a similar story and it was a tough pill to swallow when first diagnosed.

Thank you guys for sharing!

For women who have gestational diabetes, there is a 50% chance that you will get type 2 diabetes after giving birth ....

Fingers crossed that everyone will be healthy!!!

Anxiety with the bump.

I’m 36 weeks pregnant and I’ve suddenly developed a massive anxiety around anyone standing behind me. My husband is annoying me so much because even though I’ve told him how it makes me feel, he’s continued doing stuff in our kitchen (that is tiny anyway) and sliding past me to grab things. I know the baby is safe even if I were to bump the bump a little but even the thought of it is still making extremely anxious. How do I cope with this feeling and is anyone else going through the same sort of thing?

Breathless and feeling like I need to be sitting constantly!

Has anyone else been feeling this way as they're getting closer to their due date?

I attempted to change our bedding this evening and had to call my husband for back up as I literally felt like my lungs were going to explode just trying to reach over to put the sheet on.

I'm huffing and puffing just getting my toddler into his pjs, and I was sat down! Like what is going on šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’ØšŸ„²

Everything has been check ie bloods etc so I think it's just general pregnancy as I'm now 38 weeks. My bump feels like it weighs about 100lbs 😭

Friends wedding abroad

Hi all. I know this is FTM... But really need advice. I am currently pregnant with baby #2. Only 8 weeks. I didn't want to tell anyone yet, my partner and boss knows (needed for risk assessment reasons annoyingly). My friend is getting married in a remote part of Spain in ~3 months. I've already had a few minor complications, pain, bleeding, vanishing twin... I got preeclampsia last pregnancy and a terrible birth.
I am pretty sure I don't feel comfortable flying and then travelling out to a remote part of Spain during pregnancy. It will just be me and my toddler. I know it's overcautious but I just don't feel comfortable. I'm not even sure if I am going to be classified as high risk pregnancy or not.
How do I handle this? I need to tell her ASAP, but I didn't really want to tell anyone yet as doc told me miscarriage risk is a bit increased with vanishing twin. Any ideas?

When to prepare?

I’m 34w1d with my second baby. Today at my midwife appointment she said baby is 2/5 engaged, I’ve packed my hospital bags but unsure when to start building baby’s crib. Installing car seat ect. When is everyone else doing these things?
