My mother in law passed in 2021. As sad as it was, it led to us eloping in Wyoming after being together for 7 years. We hit 9 this June and expect our first babe in October! My parents live 1,000 miles away in MA, my sister in law seems to roll her eyes every time I talk about being pregnant (she lives with us) and I feel like I have no village. I’m begging my mum to stay with us for two or three months and she says she’ll “think about coming out for a month”. Am I the only one who feels completely alone? Will my SIL get more into the Aunt roll once the baby is born? I don’t have a village, I feel like all I have is my myself, and sometimes my husband. Who else is without a village? How do you do it?

I dont have a village its just me my husband and baby ( my husband doesnt do a lot to help as he works crazy hours ) and my little boy is 20 months ... Its definitely challenging and exhausting but i have survived so far and still trying my best , you got this momma ❤️

You may surprise yourself when your baby is born! I also never had a village, and I honestly didn't care to have one... My mother and MIL live pretty close. That's the only family we have, but I never once needed or wanted their help with anything. There is nothing wrong with needing help, but I'm just the type of person who prefers to do everything on my own, and I stepped into my role as mama effortlessly! I genuinely thought I would struggle and would need my mom around a lot to help me. We had even set up a crib at my mom's house. My mother was very offended that I wasn't asking her for help or advice, but I was thriving and genuinely didn't need help. I wouldn't have known this until my daughter was born, but my mother and I have drastically different views when it comes to parenting, so I never took any advice she tried to give me. My husband has also never been that helpful since he works, and I have always exclusively breastfeed (no bottles), so there was never much for him to actually do.

You are all amazing for responding the way you did! Thank you mamas for all the heart-felt advice. You made me feel stronger! Thank you thank you thank you!

i don’t have a village either. my MIL and i don’t get along. My family helps some times but you can tell they are tired of listening about baby all the time. none of my husbands family is involved bc of past issues. and my husband is in the army and works 12/14 hour days.
