CVS
Has anyone ever had a CVS done? I’m having one on monday due to baby having a raised NT and bloods coming back as having a 1 in 23 chance of down syndrome (which is totally okay!). I’m just worried about the risk of miscarrying etc?

To reassure you the risk of miscarriage with CVS is extremely low, it’s an incredibly safe procedure. I’ve even thought of having it as an extra precaution voluntarily. So try not to worry too much! Xx
Also the great thing about CVS is it is diagnostic which means it’s 100% accurate, whereas NIPT is screening so can include false positives. So you will know for sure whether there is Downs or not and make whatever decision is right for you. So either way CVS gives you security and peace of mind, you will know for sure. Hope that helps!
The brilliant book ‘Expecting Better’ has a great section on this showing how very low the risk of miscarriage is, might be worth having a look at that for extra reassurance xx
I had the NIPT (non invasive ) instead and I was classed as really low risk from them results, I now have a healthy 2 yr old 😊
