Didn't get my scheduled till close to the 3rd trimester

sorry probably should have said in the uk as I think it’s different in the us. We definitely don’t get it that early I don’t think

I got mine at 32 weeks and signed all forms at 36 xxx

It will vary depending on your hospital. I’m in the UK and got my date at 20 weeks. I was 39 weeks exactly when he was born

Oh they’re both early! I speak to a consultant next week so I’m hoping I can talk them into scheduling it as soon as possible just so I know the date even if it is just for 39 weeks

I got to book mine in at 36 weeks. I choose the date.

Keep on at your consultant for a date. My appointments kept getting cancelled, finally have had one at 37 weeks and now I won’t have a planned section until my due date because they’ve booked all the slots up

I got an email with my date and instructions 10 days before the date. I got given the medications etc when we scheduled an elective section and did the consent forms at 36 weeks. UK. Edit: the date was based on when I wanted to schedule I.e. 41 weeks but exact date was in the email

I Had my consultant appointment at 36 weeks. Also signed consent forms that day. They requested a section for week 39 and told me to call the labour ward if I didn’t hear in a few days so rang and they confirmed my date for 39 plus 4 before 37 weeks xx

Thank you everyone. It’s helpful to hear your experiences. I have a consultant appointment next week at 16 weeks, I know I’m not going to get a date yet but I’ll make it known I need a date asap so I can plan around it

Just bear in mind sometimes babies have their own idea about when they want to arrive. With my second we had a section booked for the day I turned 40 weeks. My first was born by emergency at 39+5.

My second decided to break my waters at 37 weeks. Might be best to get them to talk to there work and explain they have a window of about a month were they may need to take short notice holiday. This was what my partner did. X

he’s already told them but it’s a new job so he’s not 100% sure how it works but he is gonna speak to them again

my partner was in a new job too he had only been there 2 weeks. He actually found them quite understanding. X

Got my date at 32 weeks and I’ve signed all the forms, I’m having it at 37 weeks (I’m in Wigan) x

Ended up having her even earlier due to measuring small.

It's usually done at week 39 I've been told I'll be booked my date at 32 weeks as I already have a baby at home etc and need to arrange care and they're doing mine around a safeguarding issue with a midwife on postnatal. So I'd sort arrangements out for your partner to start a Flexi leave paternity from 38.5 weeks and basically confirm with work it'll be any time from then onwards so can he play it day by day. My partner basically just sent a text each morning to say I wasnt in labour and he was in that day and then the day it happened he text to say it's go time they wished us luck and his leave started that day if any of that makes sense

I scheduled mine at 32 weeks. And haven't signed forms yet. I'm booked in for Wednesday! X

it doesn’t quite work like that for him unfortunately as he’s not entitled to paternity as he’s only just started so hasn’t been there long enough so he has to use holidays for it which obviously need booking

sorry j should've said my partner was in the same boat and had to use holiday his company were fine doing it this way. I'd see if they'll be flexible with him on the start date for the holiday and explain to the consultant when you see them you absolutely need a firm date for this reason but then again planned ones can be cancelled last minute so he may end up wasting a few days of leave xx

I got my date at 28 weeks, but that was because I had no choice but to have a C Section (I had a large fibroid that completely blocked the birthing canal. My date was scheduled for when I was exactly 39 weeks. (I'm in the UK). I've heard that most don't get the exact date until they're 36 weeks (I'd imagine this is especially the case if you're having an elective). It might vary from hospital to hospital, also.

I was only expecting to get the date at 36 weeks anyway but then been told it won’t be until after then which is stressing me out a bit when I have childcare and things to sort 😫

I’m in the uk and was told my date at my 20 week scan.. not to worry you but it didn’t end up being that date and was 4 days later due to staffing and bed issues 🤦‍♀️ it all depends on where you live x

I went in for a growth scan at 38 weeks and had her by csection two hours later (day before Christmas eve).

uk, i’ve been told ill get a text message at some point during the week beforehand, id just recommend maybe your family telling their boss they’re “on call” for you?

I had a meeting with consultant at 36 weeks and was given a date there and then, she rang straight through to the ward and booked it in :) This time around I have my meeting at 31 weeks so will get my date at that meeting for 39 weeks and around 5 days they have already explained :) xx - UK based

I had my first consultant appointment straight after my 20 week scan. She has made me an appointment at 32 weeks, which I think is to sort out when I will have baby. My last elective c.section it was sent in the post after a phone call (because of covid times) I've been told 39 weeks but baby is measuring 1%.... so depending on next growth scan might be earlier now.
Currently only 26 weeks.
