Traveling with toddler - will this be acceptable…

My best friend gets married in September in Canada. It’ll be our first holiday abroad with my little girl who will be 22 months when we go!
I’m struggling to work out how we’ll do bedtime. She goes to bed at 7, and we’ll be in the same room so either me and my partner will have to go to bed at that time or sit in silence 😂
I was looking at getting a camera that can put in the room and use my phone to keep on eye on her while we sit somewhere in the hotel to have a drink etc. obvs I’d never be too far from the room. Is this okay??? Or will I be tarnished as a bad mum?!
The other option is rent a full apartment or suite with two rooms and it is just wayyyy to expensive

I wouldnt personally just going off past events, what about a Airbnb? Or renting an apartment not in a hotel?x

Routines kinda go to pot when your on holiday & you’ll be much more relaxed if you ease off the routine.. she might have a longer day time nap and with the time difference a later bed time might not be a bad thing while your there. Or would they sleep in the pram while you had a drink out?

Is there any options of accommodation with a balcony or one bedroom apartments?

I’ve travelled a few times with my baby / toddler and never stuck to bed time 🙈 they usually have a 3 hour nap in the day and then can make it till 9/10pm and then off to bed all of us 😄

that’s what I thought too, shes probs go to bed later, but still wouldn’t be as late as us. Selfishly we want a bit of a holiday too as it’s our only break. We could give the pram a go thank you! I hadn’t thought of that

I’ve looked at the rooms available and tbh Toronto is a bit limited because it’s more for city breaks. We have a tight budget and the hotels we can afford only have one bed rooms unfortunately

We used to get ours ready for bed and put them in the pram, go for a bit of walk to get her off to sleep and then have food & drinks in peace. Just make sure you have a comfy pram and maybe look at a Snoozeshade too…

We’ve done that in hotels where we have a monitor while baby sleeps in the room. Although I’m paranoid at times and check the monitor constantly, it’s the only sensible way really to enjoy going away for us. Messing with the routine is not an option for my little girl and this has been the only way we have been able to enjoy some dinner in the hotel without having to sit in the dark. We might be tarnished as bad parents now, but do what feels right for you and suits your family - that’s the only thing that matters

We’ve always got a hotel room with a balcony(where possible) so we can have a drink and snacks.
Or we have sat in the dark watching a show on the iPad with a bottle of wine 😅 the glam life!
Alternately you can shift baby’s routine slightly so she goes to bed later. We’ve done that too!
What’s the time difference?

Get some baby ear defenders, they’re £10 or something on Amazon and might help her to sleep in the pram if you’re worried about the noises of being in a restaurant or bar.
My boy is a very light sleeper and we use them a fair bit because we can never guarantee that he’ll just sleep through something! They muffle the sound out nicely, probably similar to white noise. My sisters baby on the other hand would just curl up in a ball on a chair and sleep through anything!! So you never know!

Would it bother you if your husband was hanging out with his sister at 4am in a closed bedroom upstairs while you’re in bed downstairs?

My sister in law is visiting/spending the night and we haven’t seen her in over a year because of living abroad. I have some past trauma from my own family so I was triggered when my husband saw that I was almost asleep at 4am when he was up playing video games and instead of coming to bed, went upstairs to chat with his sister. But I sound crazy even saying anything because it’s his sister, right? Is it inappropriate? Am I buggin? Would you feel uncomfortable?

3 year old saying teachers hit him at daycare

My son started daycare at 2, he is now 3 and shakes with fear and cries at daycare drop off. He doesn’t want to go and when I ask him why, he says his teacher is mean to him and that she hits him in the back. I put a lot of thought in choosing this daycare. There is one particular teacher that he always says is mean to him. However, there is another teacher that he likes, and he specifically asks for her and is ok to be with her. Could this be true that his teacher hits him? Should I bring it up to the daycare management? Have your children said something similar and it turned out to be true? My husband thinks he is saying this to get out of going to daycare. My son is very attached to me and wants to spend every second of the day with me. He won’t even let his dad do anything for him, it’s always mommy. My heart is breaking. I don’t want to strain our relationship with the daycare, but is it appropriate to bring up my concerns and tell them that my son says he is being hit at daycare? Sorry, it’s a little bit of a rant. Please respond with your thoughts on what you would do.

Screen or paper — how do you handle story time?

My husband is working on a kids’ reading app and it’s got me thinking — do you prefer your kids read on a tablet or a physical book? Curious what other moms think and why!

AITAH?

My husband’s therapist told him to start doing an exercise with me and tell me one thing every day that he’s gained in the last 3 years.

His first response yesterday was our daughter his first born.

I got upset that this was his first response. His defense was that his kids come first and always. Which okay wasn’t fully expecting him to say me or anything BUT we have 2 other kids and he didn’t say the kids he named her specifically.

I get she’s his first born but he spoils her rotten she’s always getting new stuff and toys and things and the other girls really don’t granted my oldest is always getting in trouble and usually grounded and our youngest is still a baby but I can’t help but feel like she’s his favorite and shows it loudly. She’s even his screen saver just her and him.

Am I wrong to have gotten annoyed/upset? I told him I just didn’t think that was gunna be his answer.

Idk maybe I’m taking it out of proportion 🤷🏻‍♀️

Would you allow you child to gift their toys to their best friends?

I haven’t yet had this happen yet but our daughter is a very caring and thoughtful little human and may decide to do this eventually. And I’ve heard of this happening with other children. If your child gave away a toy and then wanted it back(after a long amount of time) how would handle it.
A) Would you get them a new one that looks the same.
B) Explain that when we give people gifts we don’t take them back because that’s rude.
C) Go to the parents and get it back.
