Baby's weight after scan

I am currently 37 + 6 and just had my 38 week scan baby is measuring 7lb 13 oz is this something I should be worrying about? Consultant advised for me to have a sweep at 39 weeks just want some reassurance really gone from 5.5lbs 5o 7lb 13 oz in the space of 3 weeks is this normal?

I went from 5lb 12 to 6lb 13 in 3 weeks. Just had my 38 week scan at 37+4. I was offered sweep by my midwife at last appt and then by consultant at this appt, I think it's just standard to offer it at 39 weeks.
Don't forget that it's a calculation that they use to estimate weight. My baby has an on track head, two ish weeks ahead belly and a week behind legs. If those measurements were swapped around it may have calculated a different weight.

Hey babe I had my first growth scan at 38 + 2 weeks and they told me she was at 8lb 6oz suddenly from plotting average on the growth chart and then jumping into the 97th percentile but they couldn’t measure her head on the scan because it was so deep in my pelvis and a lot of second time mums and friends I have spoken to said take everything with a pinch of salt when it comes to the weight because they really don’t know they can be +/- 15% out either way and most of the time they are wrong! My friend got told the same and ended up having a 6lb 13oz baby but the whole time was being told she was going to be massive and she may need intervention etc! Don’t panic and it’s totally up to you as to whether you want to have a sweep or not , if your a low risk pregnancy and you feel fine in yourself just go to your due date and see what your body decides to do and then reevaluate from there if baby still isn’t here! I’m 39+2 now waiting for baby girl and I have another scan on my due date xx

Hey hun these measurements are never perfectly accurate both my babies measurements were over 7lb at these scans, however at birth one was 6lb 4oz and my second was 6lb 14oz. I wouldn't be worried at all. Offering a sweep is just what they do to be on the safe side however you can decline this if you don't want to have it done x

Measurements can be off by 15% either side so take growth scans with a pinch of salt. My daughter was measuring just over 7lb at my 38 week growth scan, she came 2 weeks later at 9lb1oz 😅

Baby boy is here!

Just had baby boy this morning at 5:49am 🥹🥰 I was in labor for 10 hours and pushed him out within 9 pushes. I cried tears of joy for like 20 minutes. All that pain was worth seeing his adorable little face and chubby cheeks 🫶🏾

Obstetrician led

I’m having shared care between midwife’s and obstetrician.

My previous pregnancy I had extra growth scans as baby was measuring big and I had pre-eclampsia during labour and a full dilated emergency C-section.

This time round I’m having obstetrician appointments, midwives appointments, cervical length scan every two weeks from 16-22/24, and extra growth scans again .

I’m just finding it all a lot to process can anyone let me know there experiences and if they went on to have a happy pregnancy despite it

Polly??

My 3 year old son is completely insistent that baby sisters name will be Polly. I think he just got attached ages ago after hearing it shouted in the park and now it does matter what name we suggest, even if he says he likes it, he still insists her name is Polly.

Now I dont hate it but its not really what I imagine for my daughter either?? I typically like full (yet girly) names with a cute nickname that can work in either a professional setting or out of work.

I think Polly just feels like a cute nickname to me? Also, I had an imaginary friend heavily inspired by Polly Pocket as a child so I dont think that helps 🤣

We just cant seem to agree on any names as a family so a bit stumped!

Mums that have kids🥰

When you gave birth and came back home with your newborn. When people wanted to come visit you straight away. How did you feel?

Everyone has different experiences I’m so curious x

Movements

How are people with no obvious ‘pattern’ monitoring baby movements?

My babies movements vary so much day to day, there is no pattern I can see whatsoever.

For example, over the weekend i felt him a few times during the day but nothing crazy, Monday & Tuesday he was wild in there and I felt movement on and off all day, today back to a few times.

When it varies this much I have no idea how I’m supposed to work out what is ‘normal’ and when to be worried!!!
