Loss of appetite when teething
How much of a loss of appetite did your baby have when teething?
Having a mare as baby has lost massive interest in his bottles the last 2 days but could be a number of factors.
- We are weaning
- he is teething
- he has a bunged up kinda cold
However weaning has been a few weeks and he’s still wanted bottles
He’s gone from having 2 7oz and 3 6oz bottles plus 2 meals, to the 2 meals and his bottles will be 2oz, then 3, then 4, then 2 again and maybe 3/4 at bedtime so a massive drop without an increase in solids….have tried to give more solids but he just shuts his mouth at the point he would usually stop.
Doctor isn’t concerned as he’s still really happy and wet and dirty nappies (although definitely not as many of either) and sleeping through at night
So I just wondered how much of a drop in appetite others have seen when teething?

Give bub pain relief before feeding solids to ease the pain. If you want a smooth transition back to solids once the teething finishes. Owise it'll be another task getting them back on track. I don't believe in letting baby feel pain ..or adults at that.. when there is help in terms of pain relief. Not necessary imo. If you don't believe in pain relief all good. I guess you'll just have to ride it out. My bub never dropped her appetite because I never let her be in pain.
I’m not letting him be in pain, he has calpol and teething powders at regular intervals.
It’s not the solids that are an issue it’s his milk bottles he doesn’t want to take
Oh right.
Formula or bm?? Try alternative like powder milk or food supplements other than formular. And as well cheese is a good supplement as well as yoghurt.
Formula…it seems he was just having an off few days and he’s went right back to normal today 😂🙈 just doing it to make me worry i think 😂
Oh nice to hear that he's back on track. Cerelac is always a good accompaniment.
