Worried about babies head
I went to the hospital yesterday and the dr commented on how big my baby’s head was. His words were he’s got quite a big head hasn’t he. Now I can’t help but worry he has frontal bossing or macrocephaly. What do you all think as his head dips in then comes back out? I’m a big worrier. Or is that a normal shape?

What an ignorant thing for the Dr to say without any follow up. All babies have large heads compared to their bodies, some more than others. I think your babies head looks fine and normal. But if you are worried, can you measure your babies head? It's only the high 90s percentile that it would be a potential concern. It's also very rare. Babies can also inherit large heads. X
I know it was and he’s got me worrying now. He fell over earlier from standing so I took a pic of his mark and that’s how I noticed the dip in his head. I’m not sure whether it’s so noticeable as he has thin hair tho. Thank you for putting my mind at ease xx
My niece has quite a big head for no reason. She's 8 now and has grown into it. When she was a baby my sister was at the doctor's and mentioned she had a nice little head and the doctor said "she actually has a nice very large head" 😂 we still laugh about it now. I wouldn't worry!
Have you had appointments with your health visitor ?
My sons head is on 90th91st percentile but she said it’s fine and can’t feel any issues with plates ect and his dads head is on the bigger side. So it’s also worth noting your head size in to
Could the dip just be his soft spot? The skull usually closes around 18 months. So all babies have dips, some more noticeable. Like you said, your babies hair is thin, so this will make it more noticeable x
I just measured his head just above the eyebrows and it’s 46cm so I think that’s the 50th. His head is an odd shape at the back too but think that’s just how it’s fused shit when he was a baby. Not seeing health visitor again now. But im also concerned about his development as he doesn’t clap point or say bye. He’s one on Good Friday but was born at 36+ he babbles pulls himself up and crawls.
I’d would contact your health visitor as you should be offered a 1 year check. It was relaxed they check development height weight and circumference and ask you if you have worries or anything then. I think the doctor was just making an unhelpful comment
