Hello 🙂 I am wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. My baby is now 14 weeks and has so far been exclusively BF via pumping (never latched). We have tried on several occasions to start transitioning to formula as I want to stop pumping
We tried a small feed of cow and gate a handful of times over a month and each time he projectile vomited it up around 2hrs later (never happened with BF). Health visitor stated it could be CMPA and so GP prescribed Aptamil Pepti1, but 3 days in of introducing it very slowly (one feed per day of just 90ml) and he has been a different baby, screaming for hours on end and inconsolable. I am not dairy free but the HV said dairy content in BM is low. But I’m wondering about trying kendamil as I have read its most similar to breast milk and I cannot continue with the Pepti1, it’s not just like he’s slightly uncomfortable he has gone from my happy smiley boy to inconsolable. Breaks my heart, but I need to stop BF for my sanity. Any tips / experiences would be hugely appreciated. Thank you xx

i’m a bf mom through pumping for every feed as baby couldn’t fully drain breast.
i give him 1 bottle per day of formula since 12 weeks old i have tried aptamil, cow and gate, sma and had similar issues as you and then was recommended for me to use Kendamil as its very similar to breast and is a lot sweeter too.
id love to stop pumping every 3 hours and put him onto formula but i just cant everytime i say im going to i cant bring myself to do it but its so stressful having to pump every 3 hours to make sure there is milk for him but well done for persevering for 14 weeks momma! x

thank you, you too! It’s not easy but it’s worth it. How have you found the kendamil? X

that’s actually a good shout re the nipple shields. Il give it a try tomorrow 😊 x

it’s not easy! did you try nipple shields i went through the breast feeding team and turned out he had a tongue tie and they recommended the medela nipple shields to try as they mimic nipples the best or the brand of bottle you use to try their shields and it worked for me up until he had his tongue tie cut then after that it was like he had too much tongue and just
didn’t know what to do with it id love for him to be back on the breast but it is way too stressful with trying to get him to latch then worrying he hasn’t had enough milk etc but if your willing to give it another go you could contact your feeding team in your area just ask for the number from your health visitor and they will go through a series of questions and give you advice over the phone and book you in for a face to face appointment to support you.
Im finding the Kendamill great if im honest he struggles with reflux but reacts a lot better to kendamil compared to other brands of milk x
