Anyone have or had this?

I had some lab tests done today and they found out I had c. Difficile a & b (clostridium). I have most of the symptoms that go with it. Have yet to hear from the doctor. What's been your experience?

Whenever you take an antibiotic, make sure you’re taking a probiotic with it and even after. C.diff is highly contagious so I wouldn’t be in contact with anyone until you’re in the clear. I’d call your doctor and have them order antibiotics asap. The on call can do it - just tell them that your results came back today.

I’ve never had it but it’s common in hospitals. I was a nurse. Whenever a patient has it, you have to wash your hands with soap and water when you leave their room and wear a gown in their room. It’s very contagious AND hand sanitizer doesn’t kill it. Hope you feel better soon! When the doc calls, ask what you can do to prevent the spread to your family at home.

Clostridium difficile is a natural bacteria in your colon. You can get an infection when you wipe out the majority of your healthy bacteria with overuse of antibiotics and or pick it up from another infected person. Depending on the severity of your infection, you will definitely need antibiotics and if you're losing a lot of fluids, maybe IV for hydration.
Clostridium is an interesting bacteria in that it forms spores. This means that they are very very hard to kill. I would use 10% bleach wash to sanitize your toilet and bathroom every time you use it. Also make sure to close the lid when you flush. As others have mentioned, you'll need to start a probiotic and eating prebiotic foods is helpful too. Fermented foods such as Greek yogurt, kombucha, kefir, kimchi, saur kraut, etc and dark leafy vegetables as well.

I used to work in nursing homes so this was rampant there. I also have microbiology background.

I've been cleaning the bathroom as well as sink & door knobs. I'm lactose intolerant so can't do dairy stuff. Do like veggies.

Great! Keep up with the cleaning. When I get the stomach flu, I keep lysol wipes in the bathroom and wipe everything down and leave it wet to dry. I also would put lysol in the toilet as well. I'm sure those lysol or bleach tablets that go in the tank could work as well.

Okay! Kombucha is non-dairy as well. Did you get your antibiotics yet?

They gave me a dose at the hospital, but my pharmacy was giving me issues so have to go to a different pharmacy tomorrow

Omg 🤦🏻‍♀️ that's crazy the hospital wouldn't make sure you had your antibiotics ready to go before they discharged you. That's how antibiotic resistance happens. Well make sure to get them as soon as you can!

They gave me 1 at the hospital. My pharmacy is the one that messed up

I was diagnosed after I had my son who is now 14 months. It was very very hard at first. Got very depressed so I'm here if you wanna talk.as I know what it's like. I still wear gloves when I go toilet and still wash ny hands everytime and regularly clean with bleach, seat down when flush and keep toothbrushes away from toilet.
I think I post ibs which is very common after so sometimes if I eat something it causes diarrhea again. I can't eat how I did before all this. X
