Gender disappointment

I got my NIPT results back and I’m having another boy. This will be my second boy. I am grateful that God has allowed me to carry a healthy baby. However, I am both ashamed and embarrassed to admit that I am disappointed. I really wanted a little girl. My husband only wants two kids but I’ve always wanted 3. That being said I’m open to trying again for a girl, but even then there’s no guarantee that we’ll have a girl. I’ve actually never envisioned myself as a boy mom. Anyone else have a similar experience? If so, how do you deal with it? To all the boy moms out there, how do you like being a boy mom?

I've been there with my first. I got pregnant with my first mid 2022. My boyfriend(now husband) and i weren't even trying, but i'd joke around and say "give me my baby Salma". I wanted her before i even wanted to be a mom or even THOUGHT of being pregnant. When we found out we were pregnant, i PRAYED AND PRAYED for my baby girl. Fast forward to my blood tests (NIPT), result was....GIRL!!!! Ohhhh myyyyy the FEELS. I got a cake with her name on it. I bought little dresses. We referred to her as Salma for months. I had just dropped my OB and was setting up my medicaid mid pregnancy, so i missed some ultrasounds but i didnt think much of it. I made an appt with a gender reveal boutique so that hubby and i could see her together. Tech lady there was nervous, i'm like IS SHE OKAY, TELL ME. She said yes baby is fine. But it's most certainly NOT a girl. We were devastated (to say the least). We canceled our dinner date that night and went home in shock. Fast Forward to NOW, my little man is a year old.

And i'm pregnant with my second. And ITS A BOY. Everybody in my family including my hubby thought i would be disappointed again. But I'm soooo NOT. I actually wanted another boy. My thought process is, a boy needs a brother. And a girl needs a sister. If my first was a girl i would have hoped for a second girl. But all that ASIDE, my little boy was more than everything i ever imagined. Boy or girl, they are little pieces of our hearts and souls. I cannot imagine being disappointed with gender again. Having two boys is such a blessing MAMA. Plus, you can refer to them as "the boys" instead of "the kids". Thats just cute 🥰🥰🥰 hang in there mama, your boys will be eachother's companion forever.

This is our 3rd and it’s our 3rd boy, I wanted a girl so badly, I will admit I cried. It’s nothing to be ashamed about. He will still be so very very loved. Oh well.

Same, found out I’m having my second boy on Tuesday. I think this is our last kid just because I’m going to be 36 and already had a miscarriage, and I have been so sick with the two boy pregnancies. I don’t think I can handle a third pregnancy and we would probably need a bigger house if we did have a third. I hate the term “boy mom”. I really don’t want that to be my identity, I consider myself girly. I feel like I need to find an activity to fulfill my girly side if I’m gonna be in a house full of boys. I just keep thinking my current son would prefer a boy sibling.

Awww thanks for the encouraging words everyone. It warms my heart to know that I’m not alone. I’m excited and blessed to be having my little boy. I just had to get that off my chest before I move on.

thanks for sharing❤️. Your NIPT results were wrong?

Feel you girl. I had 2 boys and I’m currently pregnant with my last and only baby girl! My mum was the same and I was that 3rd, last and only baby girl for her. So it’s possible and very normal to want an opposite gender after 2 of the same 💗🫶💗

oh my goodness I'd be so disappointed! I've never heard of NIPT being wrong. Do you remember what percentage fetal sample they had? Now I'm worried lol!

yeah it was such a weird experience. I dont remember, but i remember calling my OB again after finding out it's a boy and asking for them to double check my result and they were lik "yes you're definitely having a baby GIRL". I didnt say anything, i was just sooo confused. What i THINK happened is a lab mixup.
