question for mom’s with babies in daycare!
hi all! my son will be starting daycare the beginning of next month once i go back to work. he’ll be about 4.5 months old at the point. for moms that have babies in daycare, do your babies get sick a lot? i’m so paranoid of my son getting sick as i’ve hear so many horror stories about babies getting insanely sick after starting daycare. he’s never been around a lot of babies before and im just so worried about him getting sick. i know it’s inevitable but idk im just so worried. he’s also never been sick before.

Hey! I work at my son’s daycare. I hate to scare you but baby getting sick at daycare is inevitable 🥺 just make sure YOU wash your hands frequently. Take off babies clothes and wash them immediately. A lot of sicknesses in infants don’t show any symptoms at the beginning so some parents simply don’t know. Right now my son has the Flu & Covid. All you can do is pray that your daycare is VERY CLEAN and tell them to always let you know if there is a sick infant in his class. Goodluck mama ❤️
I neglected the fact that I saw a little girl coughing in his class because she coughs everyday. It’s normal for babies but it turned out to be more than that. 🥺
Unfortunately, yes they will get sick. My daughter has been in daycare for 5 weeks now and had congestion for 4 weeks and a cough. She's slowly getting better. It sucks cause some parents just don't care that there's young babies in the class and will bring their super sick kid to daycare.
My older one started at 2.5 months and got so sick from daycare but he is able to fight it off better than before now that he is 1.5 years old. My younger one is 3.5 months and has had a few sickness due to his brother as I’m the carrier of course. It will happen but think about the long term benefits. You can just provide love and care now and plan for doctor visits as they come up so make sure your doctor is flexible
My girl started daycare at 3 months and she has had 3 or 4 colds, double pink eye, and double ear infection twice. She barely even acted sick!! but when it hit me and dad we were down bad 😅😅 that being said, my peds said it usually slows down once they have had around 8-9 colds and in the summer for sure. We are counting the days until summer 🫶🏻 good luck, I’m sure baby boy will do fine! If you feel the need to commiserate you can totally message me though haha
Yes my first son got sick a lot the first 3 months - it was exhausting. It’s either now or when they actually start school when they are older and miss out on a lot of learning.
did you work at your son’s daycare beforehand or started after enrolling your son?
We both started the same day! About 2 months ago!
