Travelling with baby

Hi everyone,

I’m going to be travelling with my baby in May who will be 7 months

How do you prepare bottles at the airport and also abroad?

Do hotels provide cots?

If you are on a coach transfer do you need to bring your car seat for baby?

I am so unsure of everything so any helpful tips would be really appreciated

We are going away next month and our baby will be nearly 6 months. We are planning to order formula to Boots at the airport and also order pre made formula for the flights to save making it up. Abroad we are going to use the hot shot method which we do at home so a boiled shot to sterilise the formula then top up with pre boiled cooled bottled water which we will keep in the fridge there. We told our hotel we need a cot so that will be provided. For the coach they say to just sit the baby on your lap ☺️

I’m going in May too, I am taking pre made formula for the airport and plane as it will just be easier. You are able to take through liquids for babies there’s no limit, just may take a bit more time getting through security. The other option is to do click & collect at boots in the airport. I’m taking our Nuby rapid cool for when we are there. If you use bottled water abroad you need to check the sodium content.
I’m also taking a collapsable bowl and Milton tablets to sterilise bottles.
You need to request a cot with your hotel before you arrive, I booked with jet2 so I have requested it with them.
Coach’s abroad don’t require baby to be sat in a car seat they can just sit on your lap (if your comfortable doing so)
I’d recommend taking a cabin size stroller so you can have this in the airport & plane with you and can put baby in it as soon as you step off the plane :) x

Some hotels provide cots, some don't. Clarify with your hotel before you go. You can bring a travel cot as one of your free pieces of baby luggage on most commercial planes (again check with the individual airline - ryanair gives you 2 pieces - we took a pram and car seat)
Most countries don't require a car seat for children if you are on a coach, a quick Google for the country you're going to will confirm that. Many don't require them in taxis either but it varies!

The hotel we stayed in recently provided a cot (it was a travel cot size) but didn't provide a cot sheet. Luckily I had packed a cot sheet anyway because I knew I didn't want to use their bedsheets for her!

The airport is surprisingly easy! Just leave more time than you would normally. You can bring your pram up the plane but you typically don't get it back until you are at baggage claim, so I would bring a baby carrier on the plane with you to go through passport control etc!

Hi ladies, we are also going away in May, my baby is currently breast feeding but obviously in May she will be 7 months so will be on solids by then we haven't started weaning yet, what are your plans for eating food for them whilst your away? x

Nursery funding

My child turned 9 months last week. I applied for government funded hours nearly 2 months ago and so well within the required timeframe for the April term, however upon receiving my first invoice without the funding applied and having questioned this, I have now been informed that the stretched funding doesn’t start until 4th May.

Has anyone else been told it won’t start until May?

The government site states it should start from April 1st, and so I intentionally set my nursery start and return to work as the start of April for that reason, knowing that I wouldn’t be able to afford the nursery on my sole income without the funding

NHS job

Anyone work for the NHS and does 12 hour shifts? How do you work around childcare and your partners job?

Toddlers

How often are your toddlers asking for food? My oldest who is 3 just finished a whole plate of food and not even 10 minutes later he’s requesting more food. I know he’s going through a growth spurt, but how do you respond to this.

He has no respect for anything to do with me.

Husband and I decided to separate 3 days ago. I've been sleeping on the floor in the kids room, and we both have to stay in the same apartment for a while. He wont stop pushing little things and I am reaching my limit. Photos in comments

Is this normal?

Is it just my husband that does this? He is able to work from home via his computer and in the mornings and evenings he is on there doing his job. When he is done for the day he tends to stay in the room and either play video games or watch something. He will occasionally come out and play with the girls for a few minutes and that’s it but when I really need him he says he is busy. My daughters are both 1 year old now and I am just wondering how much involvement should he have with them now?
Idk if this is the norm or not…..

Identity crisis?

Am I the only sahm who feels like they have lost their identity??? I don’t make money for my family, when I used to make great money. But I refuse to drop my under a year old baby off with strangers.
My husband works so much. But I have no control over bringing in money and I’m a control freak type of person! I feel l like I’m losing my grip because we are kind of broke, but day care would only eat up my income anyways! So what’s the point. I’m a workaholic and now I’m just a twitching bum.
I wish I could work from home but so far that’s a fake dream. I’m almost 9 months pp, and I just need to know these awful mood swings and depression will end soon! Send wine!
