I’m missing that newborn baby bubble, the first two weeks of having your newborn. 🥹

The contact naps, partner on paternity, cards/ gifts, nowhere to be, midwives support

..and let’s not forget that newborn smell!!!!

Now I feel alone, I have to ask people to come and visit or help me, my baby is struggling to sleep and I’m feeling a little lost!

I miss it! I am already lamenting the loss of her being a newborn in 2 weeks time and she’s only 6 weeks. I loved it all so far.

I genuinely felt so abandoned after we were discharged from the midwife’s care. I felt like I was all alone with this tiny human with no one to reassure me about any silly worries I had. I’m worried my health visitor will hate me when I see her on Tuesday with all the questions and worries I have saved up to blurt at her.

I feel exactly the same. Also in regards to health visitor support, I didn’t realise you don’t see them again until 1 year which feels a long time without having regular check ins.
You do start to feel all alone in comparison to how it is at the beginning with everyone getting in touch etc.
I love watching my LB get big and have more character but also miss my little newborn baby.

Guys, if you do need HV to visit more often, you can ask them. When I had my first baby, I felt exactly the same and only saw my HV when it was scheduled.
But after having my second baby and meeting with HV, I told her how I felt the first time and that I felt all alone. She was absolutely happy to come and see us more often. She also referred me to the outreach worker, who's absolutely amazing. She came to visit me and stayed for 2 hours, we talked a lot, mainly about my toddler adjusting. She offered to come and join baby grous, and she even came with me to the first one.
Unlike HV, I have her number, and I can always give her a call.
The support is there. We just need to reach out, as if we stay silent, no one will move a finger.

That's not an unpopular opinion, that's what seems to happen to most mothers... It's just not talked about much so we feel like we have to keep quiet about it
