Hey everyone! I am 37 weeks pregnant and have been trying to figure out what I truly need in my hospital bag. I have some things but I really don’t like over packing/packing things that aren’t needed or won’t be used. So far this is what I have.
- a robe for me to be comfy in during hospital
- comfy clothes to go home in
- 2 outfits for the baby
- travel size stuff like toothbrush/toothpaste and deodorant.
-dry shampoo
-long 10 ft charger
-peri bottle
That’s about it! I’m not sure what the hospital provides for the baby (assuming they provide diapers and wipes) and for me (like pads and all)

You definitely will need more than 2 outfits for baby we took 5 baby grows and 5 vests in each size (tiny baby, new born, up to 1 month) and ended up using all of the newborn and up to 1 month and then had to squeeze him into tiny baby as we ran out and we were only kept in for 2 nights (he was born 5:25pm so that might plus an additional) babies spit up poop and pee everywhere so definitely over pack for baby. I also took a robe but didn’t use it as hospitals are so warm (may be different in the US )

my midwife said the hospital provides onesies so I am only bringing 2, and we are doing a lot of no clothes just diapers while in the hospital so that’s why I’m only bringing a couple of those! Direct skin to skin while we are in hospital as much as we can!
Oh ok! I wasn’t sure if I’d use robe since I’m usually hot all the time, definitely good to know! What did you wear at the hospital? Did you just wear the hospital gown they provide or did you wear like pjs? I wanna bring a pair pjs or comfy clothes to wear while I stay but wasn’t sure how often they will need to check me down there afterwards

I brought a lot bc the hospital I chose to deliver at was 2 hours from my house. I went in for an induction, ended up getting a c section, had several complications, etc. had to stay 4 nights! I was in the hospital gown for like half the time bc I couldn’t get up to change. Idk I’m the type that needs to be prepared, so I’d suggest prepping for the worst case scenario. I had nursing pads, my iPad, Frida disposable underwear, and a pillow from home!

did the disposal underwear work well/was comfortable? I’ve also been going back and forth on what to bring for that! Luckily we are only 10 minutes away from the hospital but I do agree I want to prevent any trips my family needs to take back! And wow I’m sorry you had a rough time then :/ that’s my biggest fear is to feel like everything gonna be good then being told I need an emergency c section or something.

I wore nighties mostly with big undies on they just ask how much you are bleeding in the UK they don’t really check much as it can increase risk of infection after you’ve given birth. I also stole a flannel of my partners to Chuck on to go to the loo and things as a robe at night if my arms were cold but that wasn’t often

I didn’t need any clothes besides my girls going home outfit, they had onesies and swaddles for her. We did a lot of skin to skin since we had our own thermostats we kept it warmer. Your list looks good to me. The hospital provides so much. I brought my own pillow and blanket, some snacks just in case. I was told to bring my breast pump and a check book. I brought my own hospital gowns also

didn’t even think about a water bottle! Thank you!

what’s a MJ blanket?

oh sorry that’s my baby’s blanket that has her name printed on it haha sorry! 😂😂😂 Her name is Magnolia Jane and I didn’t feel like typing it out in the moment

lol it’s all good😂super cute name!! And thank you for the list! :)

Definitely pillows from home the hospital ones suck and you’re so uncomfy😭 not what you want to be after giving LIFE and wanting to rest

good idea! I’ll definitely be bringing a pillow!

the Frida disposable underwear is SO much better than the hospital ones!!!! Very worth it

Take more clothes! We where in hospital for a few days and baby was very refluxy we went through probably 4/5 outfits a day for the three days we where there. Most US hospitals will provide diapers (for baby and mom) and wipes bottles formula ect. You really don’t need to pack much(but bring an empty bag to take stuff home with you they charge you anyway and if it’s single use it gets thrown away when you are discharged). If you aren’t in the US ask your hospital what they provide and what they want you to bring. As every hospital is different and many changed policies after Covid.
