Hi mamas, does anyone have any suggestions on whether I should be washing in soapy hot water and then sterilising my every pump part every time I pump so I pump five times a day for my four month old and I was just wondering if I need to sterilise every time, sometimes it’s just really hard because I have to go out and stuff and I don’t wanna carry boiling water everywhere with me and I don’t even have a tummy tippy steriliser et cetera
But can’t just hot water rinsing out the pump parts work in between or do I have to use soapy water and then chuck in the steriliser straight after thanks also if anyone has any advice as to give me for feeding my four month old, she won’t take breasted only bottle that’s why I exclusively pump She doesn’t even like nipple Shields anymore I’m just worried about her intake she still drinking four oz at this age 5 times a day is that enough
and do you guys have to wake up baby fur feed at night?

Hello! So I sterilise after each pump but I know a lot of mums put their parts in a clean ziplock bag and put it in the fridge. Through the night when I pump, I rinse my haakka with cooled boiled water for ease (probably not recommended).
I dream feed my 5 month old at about 2 am just so he can stretch until 8 am.
He eats 6-8oz bottles every 4-5 hours but is definitely getting ready for solids. Hope this helps

I only wash my pump parts once or twice a day. In between sessions I keep them in the fridge and my water gets hot enough that my LC said it’s as good as sterilizing. Medela also makes a sterilizing bag that you can put in the microwave and reuse like 20 times or something if that would be easier while you’re out

I only sterilize once per day 🫣 I do the fridge hack. I just can’t… there are so many parts!!!

Don’t take me as an example, I only sterilise mine once a day even if I’m on the go - I know that’s really bad. If I’m home i will put all the parts in the fridge in a clean container. My excuse is that breastmilk is antibacterial and antiviral etc and baby hasn’t had a tummy bug or anything like that, thank God (other excuse is I’m lazy) 🫣🫠
